The fit has more horse power per pound then the new nissan maxima

I just learned that the fit has 22 horse power per pound vs the maxima of 14 hp per pound of car. It is a long story why go to fit talk and read the thread fit vs nissan maxima. I like maximas.... It sure says alot about the fit.

That may be true, but the Maxima will blow the doors off of a FIT! The Fit is a great car, but comparing it to a Maxima isn't fair (for the Fit) in terms of performance. The Fit is an economy car that feels more upscale and looks sporty and handles great. The Maxima is a top of the line Nissan that costs near twice as much as a Fit. Lets be realistic.

Having 22hp/lb just means the Fit is pretty light. It doesn't mean it's better than the Maxima which is in a different class.

yeah the figure means very little simply because once the car gains momentum is when the 270 hp is going to kill the fit. Torque from a standstill is different however.

Are you sure it isn't translated as each Fit Hp carries 22lbs, (so 109 x 22 = 2400 lbs) car weight

and that each Maxima hp carries 14 lbs, ( so 270 x 14 = 3780 lbs) car weight

That means that the engineers of Honda knew to keep the FIT light otherwise the 109 hp engine would be hauling more than 22 lbs per horse and moving NO WHERE!!

Anyone understand!

The less weight each HP is carring = more agility!! = FASTER!!

Hence the math is correct, but your deciding outcome is incorrect in understanding!

As you can see now, the maxima which carries less weight per hp will move faster!

Understand!!

It's pounds per horsepwer, not the other way around. For this comparision, lower = better. For each HP, ths Fit has to move 22 lbs, the Maxima only 14.....

yes, a lower power to weight ratio = better acceleration

the ratio on the maxima is BETTER, yet lower. Plus, when you consider HP is only good ONCE YOURE MOVING, the maxima cant even be compared to a fit. Should be compared to a BMW 330.

hmm, at 22 hp/lb, that would be around 56,000+hp in the fit...
