Well they killed the Eclipse with the 3rd Gen and the rolling abortion that is the 4G, now they are killing the Evo's? What are they going to do with the 4B11T's they spent so much time and money developing?

They can't change their image by just introducing the 8 new hybrid/electric models they cite as the reason for this? They had to kill the only fun car in their line up to do this?

Oh well.

There is still the STi for now. Even though I am not a huge fan of the EJ motors or the drivetrains they bolt to them.

Maybe I will have to go find an abused Evo 8 before they become expensive again... Is there no longer a market for 5 or 6MT AWD 2.0T's?

I was and is still wanting an EVO VII/X but with and additional purchase of 2 more new cars in in a few weeks... I can only wish some are still left in a year or two (which I think would be a miracle)

I guess videos like these will soon be a distant memory YouTube - Mitsubishi Evo vs. Subaru Impreza - Top Gear - BBC

Didn't they mention this a few years ago when they pulled the car from WRC?

Em, just to be clear you do know Mitsubishi is a huge conglomerate that has business in many different industries (cars, motors, tv, even just plain electronics).

Even so, I really like the Evo, and as sad as I am to see them do this, I doubt the car brand would go anywhere. As nice as the Evo is, its a niche car (and probably costing them too much).

i know but, once the car brand of mitsubishi ceases to be profitable they will sell all or majority share to another company and if it still doesnt do well which most of the time they do not, the brand will disapear. granted it may take awhile to happen. then again lately brands have been dropping like hot cakes.

I feel like Mitsubishi as failed a lot in the last years... they killed the WRC program, the eclipse (come on, what the fuck is up with that douche car?) ...lol just saw what you said DSM :rotfl:

then they shut down the ralliart division last year, and now the EVO?!?

and they also lost the paris-dakar rally to VW for the last 3 years?!? such a shame... :(

I'm willing to bet that the Evo will return as some sort of hybrid sports car. I agree with the posts that point out Mitsubishi's poor vehicle design on many of their vehicles.

It may just be me but except for a few I feel the $30k to $40k import sports car market is drying up. No S2000, no Evolution, no RX8. The market must really be showing people want one of two extremes: sub $25k econo boxes or $70k+ sport luxury vehicles.

good point... as for the RX8, the wankel rotary will probably get killed by the new emission laws... :(

maybe it will come back as a hybrid, but one day we might realize that the hybrids are'nt so green after all... (search a little on synthetic fuel) just like we thought leds and fluorescent were so much greener...
