There's 95 pages and about 2400 posts on SupraForums about this car, and most seem to really like it.

I've read the weight and hp specs, but what is the projected pricing and when will they be here in the US?

HP~200
weight=2668lbs.
In 2 weeks from todays date, the ft86 will be officially revealed at the Tokyo auto salon, so we will hopefully know an exact date then. Other than that... rumors exist of a possible March 2012 date of start of production, but that doesn't mean it will be out in March.

5 years ago I would have bought this no question.

Next car is going to be a sedan, probably an IS or something. I just can't live with only two doors anymore.

its on my list of 'to check out' cars. i need to verify if my kids can get in/out from one side of the car. i dont want to have to open both doors to let the kids in one side at a time especially on a rainy day or at a busy parking lot, curb side parking at their school, etc.

i read that the middle cup holder is removable over the drive shaft hump so i need to see if my little kid can get over it safely without hitting his head on the ceiling or tripping. if that part's a go, i will probably get one as my dd. if that fails im going to change gears and look at the upcoming mazda CUV... CX5 or something it was called offered in 6MT.

Looks to be a worthy competitor to the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

I almost bought a 3.8 R Spec Genesis Coupe recently, and that car is a lot of car for the money. Over 300 hp, Brembo brakes, 19" wheels and with the discount I was offered, a great deal in the mid $20's.

Made the decision I should sell either my NSX, Supra or M3 to buy it, so I passed.

Yeah, judging by the size they gave the back seats are going to be tiny. That makes it a no-go for me as a daily.

Would love to have one but going to have to pass until I can get a cheaper used one I can hoon around in on the weekend and wouldn't mind balling up in a haybale.

on one hand, there's lots of potential. low powered rwd that isn't too heavy - all the fundamentals are in place.

on the other, it's a toyota. toyota makes the most personality-free cars among the major manufacturers. strong chance that the final production car will disappoint.

for me, these two really aren't competitors. they occupy different segments. one is meant to beat the G35/37 on paper. think about what sort of buyer wants a G35/G37/Genesis.

86 is focused, lighter, simpler, which IMO already makes it a lot of car.

do you have a supra turbo? and is that M3 an E36?

The Supra is a '95 Hardtop SE (NA), and the M3 is a '99 E36 Convertible.

in my book, the m3 would be gone without hesitation for the ft86.
do you get a lot of offers for the supra?

I always like to have a convertible in the garage, so unless the FT-86 comes out in a convertible, I'll keep what I have.

Regarding the Supra, pretty much anytime I stop to get gas, someone comes up to me asking about the car and wanting to know if I'd sell it. I've had it for 5 years (bought it from the original owner), and plan on keeping it and giving it to my son someday.

Out of the three versions of this car, I should end up liking one of them, but I'm not a huge fan of the styling so far. Driving it should be another story. Holding out for the Subaru version.

My thoughts are it will awaken Honda from the boredom they have become. I hate to even say that, but it is true. I'm not so proud anymore that I named one of my sons Soichiro with the current way Honda is going.

This car to me is quite ugly. And that interior with the red accents screams HIDEOUS!!! Hopefully it is a fun drive, but I won't ever buy a Toyboat.

I think they were going for a retro 80's interior? If not, that's horrid. The seats look like the old AE seats which is cool, but the gauges, dash, buttons and placement of basically everything in the cabin is terrible IMO.

Exterior styling is OK I guess.

I like the 7500 rpm redline.

I like the handbrake placement.

For the amount of time it took for this car to come out i'm suprised the interior looks so thrown together. It's like they were trying to make a "Spartan Interior" and somehow it got lost in translation. I hope it drives incredible, because that would be it's saving grace for me and make me actually consider buying one.
