Bugatti Veyron 1/4 Mile Video

Thanks to the guys at TRC who were able to catch this run. The second pass, when the launch control decided to cooperate you might notice a familiar set of tailights in the left lane... That is an R35.

WOW!!! Fantastic find. Thanks for posting. The Bugatti is pulling like a freight train on the top end. In another 1/4 mile the Skyline driver wouldn't even know where the Veyron went. Not that the GT-R is slow, but that Veyron is crazy fast. It's one of the few supercars that lives up to it's promises.

BTW, I have to think that thing is good for 9's if they could just get it to come into boost a little sooner. It sounds lazy till about the 100' mark. Probably just torque limiting programming.

Bingo, ECM freaking out trying to limit wheel spin and probably opening the wastegates a bit to slow spool while pulling timing.. It's not really geared for launch either.

Two-steppin' a Veyron to light all 4 compressors off the line on slicks would be a sight to see, considering that sucker weighs more than 2 tons!

It sounds like a jet, I was at the track a few years ago and a stock looking Buick Regal Turbo surprised me with a 9 second run. It was the ultimate sleeper.

Was it Kevin Bolger's? I think he lives in Indiana, which track where you at?

It was The Grove.. He was there last year but I did not see him run. It was 100 degrees and we were at Import Wars hanging out in the tech area in the shade in between races.

I was very surprised to see how you can take a 3800 pound car and turn it into a sleeper. It even sounds stock.

That's American muscle that I remember. That was the last race the family was there. I have been there a few times with the speed shop. It sounded louder on the tape then when standing there.

I want that car too but its cheaper to buy a house than finding a good car and parts. They are still around but with the new laws and Congress destroying those cars and parts in the junk yard they are hard to find.

There is one Syclone in my neighborhood that just got restored and another tucked away at a friend of a friends lake-house garage. Probably in poor condition from sitting in wisconsin winters. I am hoping to grab it from him for cheap as he knows dick about cars in general and is a trustfund kiddy with no concept of money.

This ofcourse may have to wait. I am hoping to pick up a used and abused 7.0 Z06 from a guy one town over in another year or so if I grab a few sponsors for the DSM next year.

You have a lot of projects going on. You sound like my son of a few years ago then reality set in. Hope you have better luck. I still have a few cars in my garage. I want to see if I can get the Acura fixed and use it as a daily driver but my youngest son just got his driver licence and has a job so I will see where his dreams take him.

I blame ADHD and an addiction to turbo noise.

My oldest son got me into Honda and I liked the idea of 2 motor in one. I liked the turbo sound too but never had hands experience because the back alley mechanics just worked on american muscle of old and new. Did have one neighbor that worked for Oldsmobile and owned a gas station. I would have a million questions for him but hes been gone for a while now. He worked on the tri carburetor and had a few nice W30 and Hurst Olds.

Here's a car that a friend of mine owns... Scott Husted’s Radial Mustang Track Debut - Dragzine.com

I give him a hard time about the Chevy motor in a Ford, but in his defense, he had the motor in his '69 Camaro before he ever owned the Mustang. He bought the Mustang because he wanted a lighter platform and his Camaro wasn't a chromemoly car so it couldn't be certified for the speeds he was running.

Did anyone see the Turbosmart mustang at sema like 3 years ago? Had 2 GT45 or GT47's in the truck. I wondered how that think ran.
