this was a known problem on the 02-06's too. they never recalled those, i dont think.

one of the reasons (amoungst other electronic problems the dealer could NOT fix even after 4 tries) why i sold my 03 a few years ago cause it was always parked in the garage right under our kid's room...

 

Very wise move kenchan. I think I did see on FF that there had been reports of spontaneous fires. It is due to that and the countless horror stories on the MINI forum that I definitely ruled it out when choosing a car. Too close to all show and no go.

 

I heard this on the news the other day, add this to the list of problems with the R56's:

-timing chain issue

-cold start issue

-intake manifold issue

-aux fuel pump issue

....and now the water pump issue

I had the first 4 when I had my 07' R56, guess the next person will have to deal with the w/p, feel sorry for them for sure!

Even though I had nothing but problems with that car I really liked how it rode/drove/handled, oh yeah, the power was nice too but if it can't be reliable what good is it, afterall it was my DD!
