Interesting Reads: Best Values and Cutting Repair Costs

Thought I'd share these couple of articles I came across specially to first-time car owners and those who care.

From Consumer Reports about best car values and features the Fit:
Consumer http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/2012/05/best-values/index.htm?EXTKEY=AYAHFP04

From Financially Fit about cutting repair costs:
Cut Car Repair Costs! | Financially Fit - Yahoo! Shine

Enjoy!

I always have liked Consumer Reports. Where a lot of car magazines will put a new model at the top of their ratings even without any history they will not recommend a new model without some history.

The Consumer Report video is a good start for those comparing the GD and the GE I thought.

9. Baby your car.
Have your vehicle thoroughly washed and detailed every few months. It may sound silly, but Oakes says car owners tend to drive more gently and get repairs faster if their ride looks nice.

This is true ^. I've started using this philiosphy a couple years ago when I bought my new-to-me 2007 Civic. Gets a wash almost every weekend. Still looks brand new. It actually stings a whole lot less when it comes time to dishing out money for maintenance. I feel that if I baby it on the outside, I should also take special care of it's insides. It's all psychological. I passed this thinking to my wife and she babies her 2010 Fit. Everyone assumes it's a 2012 when they see it.

consumer reports is only good at reviewing appliances... if they reviewed the Fit well, then that doesn't make me feel any better.

LOL!
