My 1981 Honda Civic

'81 Civic Goodness
Wow, that brings back memories! Yours is nicer than the one I picked up in 1989 with 80K and a hint of rust around the rear wheel wells. I was in college then, and I drove my gold cutie all over the Midwest. I racked up at least 10K just delivering pizzas. In late August 1990, five of us shoehorned in for a 6 hour drive to Alpine Valley. Unbeknownst to us, we witnessed Stevie Ray Vaughan's final performance there.
The only time she ever stranded me was when the alternator failed returning from a Pixies concert at First Avenue in Minneapolis. It was December 1990, and it was already quite cold in southern Minnesota. At 1:00 am, me and my buddy started hoofing it, and the next car that came down the highway was a student from our college. Good Civic juju!
When she hit 150K in 1992, its final voyage (under my ownership) was to Bozeman, Montana. I needed to pick up a friend who would help me drive it and my "new" '89 DX hatchback to northeast Iowa. At the end of the summer, leaving for grad school, I sold it to a physics professor for $50. He drove it for 2 more years. What a car!
P.S.
When I met my wife, she was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Metro (aka Suzuki Swift). It was a reliable car, but a miserable POS by any standard. My '81 Civic was 10 times better than that heap. Honda Love runs deep.

One hundred twenty thousand miles. The car has always been garage kept.
