The FIT as a 1st car??!!??

Not to sound sucking up to honda, but I think if the fit is their first car, it would raise their standards so high, it will be difficult to get another car in the future. I'm serious. :)

i may not be a parent, but i have 2 siblings... one older and one younger. the two of them both received new cars when they turned 18... i, on the other hand bought a $500 '91 civic when i turned 17... my parent's paid for everything for my sisters. i had basic coverage and paid for everything myself.
i learned 2 valuable lessons from this.
1) the value of money
2) how to handle an emergency
i believe that all kids should get a beater as their first car. the lessons gained from it are very important.
now i can buy my own car without a co-signor and my cars last alot longer then my sisters' too... (not just because they're hondas too)

my family has two cars. our main vehicle (which to be moved to 2nd) is 02 Honda Odyssey Mini Van... i sold my 91 prelude to get 07 Fit Sport.
our goal was to use fit for short /quick tasks such as running errans etc.
and use our mini van for long drive...
HOwever, fit is spacious than we thought and comfortable than we expected..^^
Now.. Fit has become our main vehicle and our mini van is parked for long time...
Sure Fit is great fit for first car....

well, my first car was/is a Fit Sport Manual. I'm 17, and personally i think that if you know how to drive a stick, you should teach your kid, its a good skill to have, and it makes you more concentrated on driving.
i also payed for a third of the car and i pay for gas with money from my job. i think a car is a very good lesson in money management.
get the fit!

The fit is my 2nd car and Im 22. I graduated from college last year and used up almost all my savings for this car a few months after. I had a 1998 Taurus before, and I was so fed up with it with endless maintenance, when I traded it in, one of the wheel hub bearing was loose and the wheel was about to fall off, I just spent more than $1200 for maintenance 3 months before that, but luckily I wax it regularly and int/ext was in great shape so i got a good trade for....
and of course I love everything about the fit, but only thing i miss from the taurus was the 200hp, but i do get to drive my mates 06 accord v6 occasionally, a whole difference experience;)

The Fit should be more reliable than the old Taurus for many years. I'm sure it handles alot better and is easier to park.
You lost quite a bit of HP (half) moving to the Fit but you gained in gas economy by roughly the same amount (+50%). And you can haul alot in the Fit whether people or stuff.
