Consumer Reports: Honda Reliability Drops to 8th
Just heard on the news that in the 2015 Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey, Honda's reliability rating has dropped 4 spots to 8th. The CR rep stated that Honda is experiencing CVT transmission and infotainment problems and complaints. This is not news for those of us on this forum.

I don't have a Consumer Reports subscription but am interested in their comments about Honda.
The more I read about the CR survey and think about the 2015/2016 Fits, it seems like the way to get a better quality Honda Fit is to buy a manual transmission LX, the base model, the one with the 5" non-touch display. The LX 6MT bypasses the CVT transmission and infotainment problems.
This video is 21:35 long but informative, so grab a drink.
Summary:
-Infotainment systems: Expensive brands have been tweaking for a long time, have now gotten it right. Everyone else is experiencing teething problems.
-New Transmissions: Dual clutch transmissions, 8-9 speed autos, CVTs are giving almost all car companies problems
-The more a car has new components, their reliability goes down. Give it a couple of years and reliability will go up

More troubling is that many new transmissions developed to help meet heightened fuel-economy standards are having some significant problems. That’s happening whether it’s a complex system such as a dual-clutch gearbox, a continuously variable transmission, or one with eight or nine speeds. Many vehicles require repair and replacements because of rough shifting among the gears and slipping CVT belts.
Those trouble areas have resulted in several automakers dropping sharply in our predicted-reliability scores, which are based on subscribers reporting on more than 740,000 vehicles in their garages. But other automakers have seen sharp movement upward.

I had posted this in the GK section and the mods moved it to the "Other Car Related Discussions". This post has direct bearing to the current CVT recalls for he GK as well as condemnation of the 7" touch screen infotainment center. Oh well, I tried my best...
