Question GD3 vs. GE8

Hey All,

Hopefully this hasn't been beaten to death, if it has, I apologize. I've done a little searching but haven't exactly found the thread I'm looking for.

Thinking about getting myself a Fit, test drove one the other day and it was actually a fun little car to cruise around in. No surprise to you all, I'm sure.

GD3 appeals to the eye more than the GE8 IMO, but what are the key reasons to get a newer one vs an older one? I'm hoping a Fit Freak can either point me in the right direction or quickly throw down some quick facts about the 2.

TIA!

Haha - ooops. Shouldn't be in FS forum. Harsh noob. Please move into Vancouver discussion? tks.

I was looking for used before I got my GE8, and what I found is that a used GD was going for about the same price as a new GE. For me buying new was the right decision as I knew the full history, had a full warranty, and it was in better shape.

It depends what you are looking for.

Some of the big complaints of the GD3 are:

- no stock center concole (you have to buy aftermarket, the JDM one is really nice)
- no stock dead pedal (you have to buy aftermarket)
- cabin noise is louder (if you are motivated to improve it there are threads for noise deadening)
- needs more power (can be improved)

GE8 has more cargo room, I believe it is the same as the Matrix?
GE8 has a little more power but not as good on gas.

GD3 has way more aftermarket parts, but that is because it has been on the market longer.

You can't put a turbo kit on the GE8, not enough space in the engine bay.

Personally I love my GD3. I like the styling better.

Oh, I've heard the TPMS on the GE8 is a pain. It goes off for no reason, you have to bring it into the dealer to have it reset. You can't change out your own tires without it going off, you need to dealer to do it.

Great info - thank you.

I agree, GD3 more appealing to the eye. Cargo space isn't my main concern, I just want something nice and inexpensive own and maintain for my daily.

Appreciate the reply - keep em coming!
