How does the fit compete in autocross?

I'm an old guy. This is my first front wheel drive car (yup!), so I struggled quite a bit. My butt gauge thought it needed about 50 more horsepower, but again, the poor front tires had to go, stop and steer. I was not competitive. FWIW, the tires/wheels are sold.

Depends on how competitive the region is, how competitive you want to be and what other cars are in your class. I live in a very competitive region and close to a neighboring region that's even more competitive. Both have many current and past national champions along with others who have trophied at the Solo Nationals. I have a 17 LX and it's like bringing a knife to HS (H-Street) gunfight. The Fiesta ST and 8th Gen Civic Si both have about 70HP on the Fit. Both have suspensions designed to be sportier than the Fit. The street classes allow for only one sway bar change, OEM springs, any two way adjustable shock, and any 200TW tire. I have not changed the front bar or added a rear sway bar and still have the OEM alignment. I do use Bridgestone RE-71R and have also used the BF-Goodrich Rival S which are the two most prevalent tires used in the street classes.

I consider myself a mid-pack racer in those two competitive regions where we regularly see anywhere from 150-220 people participate. That being said, I've taken road trips to club baby seals in smaller regions and and was first in the HS class and finished 7th out of something like 50 on PAX. I've won class in the competitive neighboring region, but none of the fast guys in the class showed up that day. Normally. if race the Fit I'm beat up by the national caliber racers in the class who have the FiST and 8th Gen Civic.

Again, if you're serious about autocross or SCCA Solo it's not the car to have for the HS class . Can you have fun with it, yes. Can it be competitive if you live in a smaller region or race with the local Miata club or something similar. That answer would be also yes. I think money and time would be better spent of a different car.
