Anyone "downgrade" to a Fit (I currently have a 7th Gen 2005 AV6 Sedan Accord EX)
I went from a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT to a Fit Sport MT (Red). I really liked the Tibby, as it was my first and only real sports car (no, I don't count my 96 Ford Probe SE).
The Tibby was a lot of fun to drive, but it just wasn't practical for my needs anymore. I have a toddler daughter now, and getting a child seat in the Tibby's excuse for a back seat was hard. Getting the kid in and out of the car was a royal pain. Also, the Tib sucked gas like nobody's business (19/26).
Since I do over 50% of my driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic, I needed a good commuter car. I didn't get a chance to really have fun with the Tib much.
Truthfully, there are things I miss about my old Tib. The leather seats, the V6 power, but most of all the stereo! I had the premium 350 watt sound system with 7 Infinity speakers and a subwoofer. The Fit Sport has the "upgraded" sound system, but it's still a letdown comparatively. Also, I don't like any of the equalization settings. I'm thinking of popping in an aftermarket subwoofer, but we'll see.
I'm 36, so I guess I'm past my "fast car" phase. I really like my Fit and plan to drive it for a long time!

I guess mine was considered a downgrade but I feel tons better in the fit. I traded in a 2007 Mazda CX7 GT with tech package for the 2007 Fit Sport MT.
The CX7 was a hog on gas averaging around 13mpg and the motor was so delicate with the IC being top mounted. I have no regrets. I got a settlement from a lemon law claim I filed with Mazda NA regarding serious detonation problems and put it on the fit!

02 bmw 330i to 07 sp fit auto.
I was set on trading in the bmw for a honda. I flirted with Lexus and thought about the 07 camry, but when it came down to it, I'm a honda lover at heart.
Household now has 3 honda's, 4 if you count my acura and 2 toyota's. As far as satisfaction goes, I love my fit the most. It's spacious, cheap ($16k), practical, honda reliability, good fuel economy, fun to drive and looks good.
I suppose I'm growing older and my mind is more align with the ways of older people who purchase things based on value. I'm only 28, but if I was 25 I would've purchased a s2000 =p

Sold my '02 WRX w/ 30k miles for my Fit Sport. While certainly a faster and more capable performance car than the Fit, the WRX is the automotive equivalent of a ball-peen hammer. By contrast, the Fit is more sophisticated in several ways and though not fast, has satisfying dynamics and is a more pleasing daily driver.
I have an Accord and a Fit like the original poster.
Fit is probably the best around town car, but the Accord is a better daily driver for comfort. For an extended drive I'd rather take my Accord.
The ride is more harsher on the Fit, it's choppy due to short wheelbase and damping from the factory. The versitility (seat configs) and the fuel economy are huge. The two vehicles and they meet the goals of what they were set out to accomplish. Family sedan for Accord. And Fit as a versitile hatchback.

I went from a white 96 Honda Accord LX to a white 07 Fit. Great gas mileage was priority for me, so I looked at the Yaris, Prius, Scion xB and tC. But I just can't seem to drive anything else but a Honda. I love my Honda. :D

I traded in my 2003 Honda S2000 for the Fit. While both cars are a blast to drive, the Fit wins easily with practicality and cost. I don't consider it a downgrade at all. The Fit is just too much fun!
FIT FTW!
FIT FTW!
Just traded in my 2006 Ridgeline RTL for an SSM Fit Sport 5 spd!! I miss the truck but the Fit is way more fun to drive! Can't wait to get an intake and exhaust installed. All in all the positives about the Fit outweigh anything that I miss about the Ridgeline so I don't really consider it a downgrade.
from DC5 to GD3
I went from NightHawk Black Pearl '04 RSX TypeS (loved it) to a my Taffeta White Fit Sport AT lol.
HUGE change, but I like it. Considering, I do most driving around town and my son is now 6, his sister 7... Oh and I just got a house... I'm happy w/ my decision to trade.
btw, my DC5 had 91,xxx miles on it and needed a new clutch, flywheel, & pressure plate when I traded it in and they still gave me $8k for it and my insurance went down over $460/yr and payments went way down as well, also got better APR%.
I ALMOST got a TSX 6spd... lol. Glad I didn't do that though... more money for new furniture and TV for the house!!!! :D

From three new Accord Coupes in a row . . .
A few months in to the first real job, after getting out of grad school, I traded in the AMC Spirit (yes!) I had for a 1987 Blue Accord DX Coupe. Manual windows, and no fuel injection. I bought that from Classic Honda on West Colonial Drive in Orlando.
That was replaced with a 1993 Green Accord LXi - fuel injection and power windows! I got that one from Holler Honda when they were on 17-92.
That was replaced by a 2001 Silver Accord LX - with a CD player! That one was from Classic as well.
Last night I bought a Milano Red AT Sport Fit from Classic. I have a smaller car now, but with enough new things - remote entry, ABS, alloy wheels, paddle shifters - that I never had before, that I don't really feel very downgraded at all! Well, maybe just a little.
My Plan A was to get a Fit. Since I haven't learned to drive an MT yet (shamefaced look) lobbying for a Civic Si Sedan was out of the question. And I have had great experience with my Hondas over the years. My sister-in-law in Brisbane (my husband is Australian) has a Taffeta White MT Basic Jazz.
We were looking for a small 5-door wagon/hatchback (the husband has a 2005 MT Hyundai Elantra GT 5-door), but the US love affair with the SUV means that our choices are more limited than they would be in Europe, or Australia. My dad had a Mazda 3 Touring 5-door all lined up (he's retired and loves haggling for deals on cars) but the dealer in Tampa *sold* the car we signed to buy, and shipped another one to the Orlando dealer. So we cancelled the deal and got our downpayment back. End Plan A.
Plan B, which I was not happy about, called for getting a used AT Elantra GT. I really was angry and upset about that.
Call me silly, but after 20 years of new Hondas, it felt weird to think of having anything else. And every car I got always had something a little new and different about it.
Then my husband took a look at the Fit, I test drove one, found the dealer had just what I was looking for on the lot (with none of these outrageous mark-ups I am hearing about) and got it.
If you could get a somewhat sporty Civic 5-door in the US, we'd have gotten that!
