B16A /LSD Toda engine in a '89 civic hatch
#22
paperwork from importer states it has a toda stroker kit installed in the engine and gives the S# of the engine.
Ya but who knows if the paperwork is bogus or not. The lil guy seemed to be honest but who knows?
It runs and shifts like a scaled ape. I'm not going to pull it apart to check until it breaks just not on the list of things to do.

Installed the freshly dyed sun visors and they look great! But as for the tiger skin headliner.... that needs to goooooo. Need to stop by Hancock's to see what might work for a nice dark gray or black.
Need to reupholster the arm rest too, that's easy, going to match the door panels and seat bolstering - gray.

Old School
Same seller had a 1989 DS door guard trim! Just a HD cleaning and spray with a flat black vinyl paint. Not like the mud flaps that's too shiny. Need to pull the door panels to get to the clips on the originals and the 1/4 panel trims I'll spray on the car. Also dug up a brand new set of inner fenders I got for Lil Red but couldn't use due to the body kit. will change out both sides and under coat. That always looks clean on an old ride.
Speaking of ol' scool check out the 1989 Si B16A logos o found ...
Programed Fuel Injection
DOHC
VTEC
Thats the 89 Si door banner.

Today was getting the Honda side trim spray. More vinyl spray for the flaps and vinyl primer.
Finished 3 of 4 flaps. Also want to install a quick release hub on the ol gal. She is looking pretty righteous. Cant wait to pull the door panels and pull the trims off to spray. Then I can also repair the regulator on the d.s. door. Little steps..... to an awsum ride.

Today was a long 1. Opened the pool first with the help of 3 lil girls and 2 young ladies. All family :).
Then around 1 pm I had a chance to work on the 89. Installed the 2 rear mud flaps only took about 6.5 hours, for 6 screws.
Awsum flaps :)
Cleaned everything and painted the inter fenders and suspension semi-gloss black.
[I]From chew toy for bonzo to show car toy for daddy.
The black is Rustolium vinyl paint, very flexible as is the red primer for plastic and that too is flexible.

Windshield Molding
Well as usual I am piddling with something and really need to redo it. And that's what happened to the molding. Didn't fit right , it was the universal trim the glass shops use on all replacements. So as I was cleaning under it I saw a bit of rust so that was all I needed to pull that cheap #@&% out and ordered an OEM replacement from Precision at car parts .com. Be here at the end of the week. Enough time if it will stop raining to clean and coat the channle for sealing. 1tube of urethane calk and it's Showtime! At a local show.
Pulled the roof moldings too there in great condition considering the age. Anyway yet another piece of the puzzle getting completed.
Pix to come......if it would stop raining! ; )

Parts is Parts
Got the oem windshield trim in this weekend. Not permanent yet I want to cover the hood and roof with 3d carbon fiber. Then I'll use the urathane calk to permanently set it. Persision window trim out of Illinois is the manufacturer and what a clean product.
Finished the driver's side door trim ...
It isn't perfect but it's great for 28 years old.
Bama Mike is getting a special package together with the full console from the dash to behind the seats. Only thing is it's been spray painted RED....
A good set of 89 tails and center garnish. She has 90 91 tails right now? But to at least have the proper tails would be nice. Ill cook em and respray the silver reflectors and clean up the lenses like new.
If we can agree on a price.... ;>).
TOP PIC:
Installed with new fastners

Buggn
Been rolling around in my mind about the question Mike 410 asked. And I found a close up pic of the Toda piston for the b16 stroker, so in short order I'll borrow the bore scope here @ work and take a look down there!
Thanks for the question Mike.

EK skirts on an EF! OEM look
Fam. vacation!
I found a set of EK skirts off interstate 95 in NC. and bought them on the way down to Disney World.... ya I know I'm ate up with it. But the fam all just rolled there eyes and knows it's just me. Hey we all had a great breakfast outta the deal so it was soon forgotten, ha ha.
The p.s. was busted... just the way I like em, right.
vacay was great Mr. Walt Disney was a cool dude for sure. Fast pass and an early start is a good idea.
Got home today about 4pm and unload the hoopty had dinner and by 6 was grinding out the bondo and other fillers that were used to repair the breaks in the skirt. Once it was all cleaned and had a groove in the damaged areas I back taped and used... hot glue gun with flexible non hardening stick. worked like a champ. waited 15 min. pulled the tape filled the front with same glue. This time waited till the glue was just cool enough to cut with a single edge razor and flushed it up to the area. Ruff sanded with a DA and 80 grit to remove 2 coats of red paint and blend the repaired areas. Flexes and bends like oem. Took em and washed and ready to finish up the repairs tomorrow.
Then to cut to length and width..... Paint to match the car .... will start matt black just to install and go.
NOT MY CAR IN PIC. Mines much faster :D ha ha
But this is the pic that got me going on the idea

Made the engine sound better and good lord is this engine fast!
Jason came over and we hooked up the 2nd O2 sensor to the ecu. And repaired the wire going to the dizzy. Then cleaned the tb. & MAP vacuum line and well it's scary fast. Next big change will be a p28 with hondata s300. But for now the pw0 is doing well. Vtec in at 4500 to 8200 rpms.
Re-installed the door panel and installed 6.5" Renegade speaker.

Great Father's Day
Painted door and bumper trims black.
Wet sanded and ready for primer.
Finished
And on around i went :o)
Then the best part taking Hailie to sandbridge beach and playing in the surf. She had a regular aquarium in a bucket. Lil clams, brine shrip, and a sand digger horse shoe looking kridder.
The Civic ran flawlessly there and back.
And on the way back she had a good ol nap!
