What does it all mean?

I've just ignored this for years.
But when I look up my posts, from my own stats, I get a list of all my posts with the thread they were posted in as the heading.
To the left of this is an envelope symbol.
Most of these for each individual posting are a closed envelope. Some are open envelopes, and some are open envelopes with some type of movement symbolized.

What does any of this mean?
I click on them and get no information.
Again I've just ignored it for years.
But I am curious....what do the envelope symbols represent, and how are we suppose to use them?

Just did a little testing...

Open envelope with things sticking out means new messages... you haven't seen.

Closed envelope means you've read it.

It seems kinda backwards to me... for me, it would make more sense if they used a closed envelope to mean new mail that hasn't been read, with an open envelope meaning exactly that, you've open/seen the thread.

What I'm not sure of is the two closed envelopes... one with the marks on top and one without. I don't know what that indicates. Maybe the marks indicate it has a lot of views (more than 150? 200?).

On another forum I frequent the closed envelope without an arrow means you have no posts in the thread. So if it's a sale thread you are watching or something you can skim down the envelope icons until you come across one that is closed but without an arrow.

They are silly though. The envelopes on this forum are different so maybe they have different meanings.
