old users. do we need to keep there profiles?

After getting really bored and going through the members list i discovered that there are a ton of members that started profiles, looked around for a day or two, and then never came back on. Do we really need to keep all the members in there even if they have never posted and are just taking up space? I know it would be a huge task to go through the list of members and get rid of the un used profiles but i was just wondering. It just seems like we only have a couple thousand members that actually post up but we have like 20,000 members listed on the site. Maybe im just complaining but it seems excessive that we keep the dead weight.

You never know man, they may come back, or maybe they come and sign in so they can search the forums, if done right one can have a forum account and never post, but still find everything they need.

agreed. I moderate two other forums and we have discussed this but decided not to delete cause it's still can benefit them. It's about the members you know

I'm a member who rarely posts, but I read the forums all day, every day.

Seee????

I know plenty of peeps that do that AND buy stuff from vendors or other members without ever posting.

As a member of this forum I disagree with deleting unless they are in fact spammers or constantly break the rules.

I was talking mostly on the members that were only active for one day and never posted. If you look through the member list it will show you the last time it was active ie when they last logged on. If that was back in 2006 chances are pretty low they are gonna come back. See what im saying? I guess i was just complaining. Oh well

Exactly. I just visited j-body.org the other day after not visiting for years, and it came in handy having my profile still. I didn't have to register to help a guy out. Just keep 'em. It really can't hurt. The forums are going to get slower and slower the more information that is passed anyway, but i don't think the baggage of members will hurt speeds or anything. (then again, I am no internet genius either.)
