Ads Have Taken Over fitfreaks.com

The advertising has gotten out of control on this site.

--I can't log in without getting a pop-up.

--I can't visit without an audio ad automatically starting.

--I can barely see the text of forum posts through all the glitzy ads, banners, borders, etc.

You have to balance profit against pissing people off. I'm getting pissed off.

I have no problems using Google Chrome's browser and the addon called Adblock.

I don't see excessive ads, either, even without adblock...just the usual banner ads that most every site has. No autoplay videos, no sounds, no popups, whether logged in or not.

Marrk—I'd suggest checking your computer for unwanted spyware, toolbars, and so forth. Your difficulties, I suspect, lie on your machine and not with Fitfreak.com.

I've literally never seen an ad on this site, outside the standard 1 or 2 banner ads.

Are you guys that have the ads problems, having this happen only here or every site?

I'd recommend downloading and running CC Cleaner, Spy Bot Search & Destroy and regularly running an AV(anti virus).

The only ad I'm seeing as I'm typing this is a small Tirerack.com ad with a silver GD3. It's to the right of the forum msg blocks.

Only ads I see are on the top banner and on the right side, and im running firefox with no ad blocks on. You probable got some kind of spyware/ad ware on your computer adding the obsessive ads.

Looked into it. Other than the banner ads in the upper right hand corner, the centered banner ad just above the first post of the page and a small ad on the far right hand side next to the top post, there are no other ads. No pop-ups from this site, no video/audio ads that self start, etc.

Please follow the above suggestions to help remove the malware and adware from your computer.

We do appreciate your feedback.

I'm experiencing a similar pop-up issue now. A full-page video ad for British Columbia tourism is popping up every time I change pages in the forum. I have to close it with the "X" before proceeding. There is also a banner ad for British Columbia tourism at the bottom of the page that might be spawning the pop-up.

This is on an iPad running Safari.

I've tried several other sites from ad-laden (Scionlife, weatherunderground, etc.) to adless and no other site is spawning the ads, only FF.net. I've also tried viewing this site on another computer via Firefox and adblock and of course no ads show at all.

Needless to say, any vague ideas I might have had for a vacation in British Columbia have been quashed.

I believe what you are entrancing is on your end and not the websites. I am on a PC using firefox with out ad-block. I am only seeing the ad on the top and right hand side, but there is no pop up ads. Have you tried clearing cookies?

The problem seemed to clear itself eventually when the British Columbia banner ad was replaced with something else. I tried clearing cookies, etc. to no avail. I think that the issue was simply a badly written script in the British Columbia banner ad that immediately spawned the full-page ad without being clicked on. I really wish Firefox would port their browser to the iPad!

I'm now planning my Canada trip... to Alberta, Saskatchewan, or any province other than B.C!
