URL Redirection?

I am persistently redirected to websites offering me gift cards and prizes while browsing FF. Almost like a popup but it doesn't open in a new window, and I am often unable to return to FF in the same browser window.

Is this a new site feature? Or is my phone fucked?

Technical details: occurs when browsing via Safari on iPhone 6S running on iOS 10.2. Already cleared "website data and browser history" in Safari and enabled pop up blocker.

Suggestions?

weird. No issues on my end. Do you have any other phones or computers to test out visiting fitfreak?

I've seen it frequently where I get redirected to BS like "click within 10 seconds to prevent your..."

I just close the window.

I've experienced that on my Moto X running android in the Chrome browser. Rather annoying. I haven't found anything to stop it.

Have you tried a content blocker like Purity? I have that installed and don't get the issue you are describing on my iPhone SE running 10.2.

For anyone else experiencing this issue, does it happen when you use the mobile site view or the full site view?

Also, are you logged into the forum or browsing without logging in?

For me: mobile site only (I rarely visit forum on full site view), both when I'm logged in and logged out of the site.

it's really annoying, I've been going on mobile the last few days and can't even get into a thread before I get hijacked, and the only way out is to delete the Chrome tab. Do the site admins know about this? There's nothing they can do about it, no one they can report it to?

Cut and pasted below from the Civic forum site mentioned above for those who don’t want to create an account to view the thread. Post was made by
IB Jose around noon on February 14, 2018.

Hi folks.

This is an ongoing issue across our entire network, as well as the entire internet itself. They come through only on mobile devices (both iOS and Android) and are served through legitimate ad networks--which is why every single content platform is struggling with these spam ads. We've even tried turning off various ad partners to keep them at bay, but they are so prevalent across the ad networks that it didn't actually make any notable differences. Last week we started testing an entirely new method in terms of how our ads display, but there are some severe kinks that we need to work out before we can widely implement them.

For the time being, I will echo the sentiments of the site team in setting up every single ad-blocker you can find that will work properly on your mobile device.

It's still an issue, to the point where I just don't browse the site from mobile. Really a huge pain, you'd think a company like this would work a little harder to fix something like this, that has been ongoing so long

What I’ve noticed is that, on my iPad w/safari, if I leave it on the main FF forum page, it gets hijacked. But if I quickly move to a sub forum or any thread, it doesn’t get hijacked.

I used to have the same problem on mobile but then I switched to Firefox Focus and I stopped getting pop ups/redirects. If you don't want to download a browser, another thing that worked for me is hitting stop before the page loads entirely.
