Good to see everyone again!

Sorry had to leave early but I expected to arrive much earlier (damn shop missed a couple things) and yeah... had a friend waiting for us up at Fry's.

The Fit is back at the shop today for the window switch, mirror and stereo. Turns out the switch is bad and the stereo decided to stop ejecting cds. (MECH ERROR) joy. Hoping to get the car back whilst the insurance company authorizes the parts order/install.

I just got my '09 SSM Sport Manual Transmission a few weeks ago. I'd be interested in checking out a "Fit Meet" in this area. Wow, do I love my car!! I just took it to a detailing shop today and had them put a coat of polymer paint sealant on it. In the summer I think I'll try doing it myself.

Well, i'm gonna have to take the car to the dealer for a pair of reasons now. 1st, the installer that did my lo-jack install (through the dealership) apparently hacked up the dash harness something fierce. My driver's mirror's wiring is apparently only electrical taped together.

Second is the window switch. A new switch did not fix the issue. Old switch was put back in the socket. Let's see what the dealer has to say.

Oh, last thing. Apparently stereos can depreciate in value in a couple years. Mine had by 20%. They (Pemco, her insurance) wanted me to foot the 20% ($200) for the stock stereo. Or I could go to cartoys and get an aftermarket stereo which they would foot the majority of the bill. This being $600.

I got this:
Alpine IVA-W205 DVD receiver at Crutchfield.com

After all discounts they could muster at cartoys, I'm paying $220 out of pocket. I figure, $20 more nets me a dvd player. I'm down.

BTW FitFTW here is a pic to give you a visual of how I supported the axle when I lowered the car. Really easy...

well, stereo installed. looks decent... may have to adjust some stuff later on when i fully install the bypass.

Tried it today and it went ok till i blew the stop fuse. Need to get some better connectors i guess. *shrugs*

Taking the car apart to get to the stereo is not as pleasing as I thought it might be. Putting it back together correctly is worse though.

Fixed the stop fuse, uninstalled the bypass, put the car back together in the dark. Save it for another time I guess.

So, when's the next meet?

I'm really interested in coming to a Fit Meet sometime, but will be out of town for the Thanksgiving Holiday on the 29th. Hopefully I can make it to another one. Where do you usually meet?

Unhappy

News on my fit. It would seem the toughness she's displayed so far has come to an end. I took her over to the dealer tuesday to have the window switch issue fixed (they are ordering a new master switch, covered under warrenty) and noticed that the trans wasn't shifting smoothly. After a day and a half i get a call from the dealer, "Transmission has a crack in it. Was the car in an accident?" I explain that it had, call the repair shop, he calls dealer and pemco... now we wait.

To put it into perspective. The total for the repair was 11,309 and change.

$600 extra for stereo replacement.

Now, the trans is $3000 before labor. That includes a $1200 core charge from Honda as they won't take my trans in as it's not repairable.

i wonder what part of the trans is broken. that is not too specific a statement. its like saying your engine is broken.

ok, here's a more detailed description.

When the axle shaft was ripped from the trans it caused a hairline fracture in the transmission, where the trans meets the axle. After install of the new axle, the stress from driving caused the fracture to form a crack and leak fluid.

Pemco is not my insurance, it is hers. Still no word yet on what is going to happen.
