Sleeping

My girlfriend and I are both 5'4''. (I know im short) We want to be able to sleep in the back when we go on road trips and "stuff". If it wont fit us, I might have to get a longer station wagon.

With both front seats slided forward and the car in utility mode you should have around 5.6 feet (1720mm) in length. However, a slight portion of that distance will have you hanging without support over the bottom rear footwell. I guess if you sleep diagonally you should be OK.

I guess you could try refresh mode, but I dont know how much the rear seats can recline (it doesnt seem like much).

5 ft 4, hmm, you should be able to fit in it easily.

I'm going to a party on saturday so I'm gonna be wasted and pissed out of my face to be even able to drive back home. So I might bring along my sleeping stuff.

I'm 5ft 10 so I'll try it out and get back to you

I'm counting on you! I used the bed feature on my '84 Honda Civic Wagon many times for getting full rest in lieu of a motel. Please let us know how the "R" mode works.

I think with the US model, they have the added Refresh mode which I think is not available in the UK one (considering the US model is longer I think). I tried doing this "refresh" mode on my UK spec one the top part of the seat hits just the end bit of the back seats so I can't get it perfectly flat.

but hopefully if I flatted my back seats all flat, there should be enough room for me to sleep ;D

The Japanese Fit site shows the available room with the rear seats folded flat to be 146 centimeters (57.48"), and 103 centimeters (40.5") between the rear wheel wells.

See http://www.honda.co.jp/dog/honda-car.../fit-p-004.jpg for the specs.

...
Don't you have to take off the front headrests for refresh mode?

yes I have taken the top headrests but still doesn't work.

I think refresh mode was introduced into the 06 US models which will be incorporated on the rest of the 06 models.

I think pre-06 don't have this refresh mode, but I could be wrong.

to be honest, refresh mode doesnt look as comfortable as sleeping flat in the back.

refresh mode would be cool if the car came with a dvd player.

Well heres the news.

If you're taller than 5ft 9/10 you won't be able to share the back with someone considering if you want to stretch out properly then you're gonna have to sleep diagonally, unless you can hunch up into a ball then no problem.

One things for sure though, bring EXTRA sleeping stuff like quilts and sheets and cushions, cos the floor is hard, plus it gets absolutely freezing on a cold night.

I was sooo cold last night and I had like 4 layers of clothing on with just a thin sleeping bag to cover.

Thermorest is the brand name of one of the best roll-up sleeping mats available. It uses foam and air to give IMO the best insulation and protection from the ground. I've used one for years in the military, and have slept comfortably on frozen gravel. You should be able to find at any outdoors store. They are available in a variety of lengths and widths. One (or two, for a friend) could turn the back of the Fit into a mini hotel room.

Thumbs up

I'll second that thermorest vote. I slept on someone else's and kept looking for the plug in or battery powering it all night. Those things really work - just off reflected body heat!
