09 SPort BAttery Terminal Cover Question....HELP!!
Greetings all. I have a '09 sport that has been a great car. I'm in the military and just moved from Korea back to DC. Due to a shipping error, our car took over 4 months to get to us. During that 4 months the car wasn't started except to move it a few times, so the battery died. Somehow during the shipment the large red battery terminal cover that used to be on the battery was lost. I took the car to the dealership today to get the battery replaced as well as the cover, battery was replaced and the car runs great. The dealership said that they don't make a cover that fits my battery because it is not in the same configuration that it left the factory in. I've attached pics (engine compartment was filthy!).
We purchased our vehicle new and the only thing we've ever had done besides oil changes and regular maintenance was a new battery in Korea.
I'd like to get the positive end of the battery covered up with the cover that was on the battery before. Based on the pics, will there be any issues going with the factory battery terminal cover?
Is this what I need? BATTERY TERMINAL COVER (32418-PND-300) - $8.19 - 32418PND300
Appreciate the assistance and look forward to the commentary, thanks much.

At least you got to drive your own car in Korea. When I was there we were not allowed to drive anything except US military vehicles. I had the MPs chase me one on a borrowed motorcycle. Also the MSR south of Seoul was a good 2 lane road to Taegu/Daegu. After that it was all gravel to Pusan/Busan. The only 4 lane road in the country was from Kimpo to Seoul. They were building a 2nd 4 lane northbound to Uijeongbu. Oh yes, officers were not allowed to drive. Only enlisted people were allowed. I do not know about WO's. As you probably can tell that was a long time ago.

Thanks for the links all! Also n9cv, that was a long time ago, great info.
Just to confirm, based on the pics, everything looks factory correct? The tech said that someone added a fuse block above the positive terminal, is that correct or does everything appear factory? Just want to make sure the part listed above will cover the positive lead and the extra fuse blocks. Thanks again!

I agree. Mine is broken. I need to also order a replacement. I have a habit of sitting tools, etc. on top of the battery when I'm working on it. So that cover is necessary to keep me from shorting out the battery.

I agree, The cover is mandatory. If you blow main fuse you have to buy the whole thing as its not replaceable fuse.
jpsf3 You battery terminal post is either too short or your terminal connection is up way too high. I would make sure its fully seated. If it slides off and makes a poor connection you can blow the main fuse in short order as bad connections pull higher amperage.

Thanks Slim, it has been repaired. The battery cable was loose because the shipping company that removed it never tightened it and it wasn't something that I checked before I singed for the vehicle. All good now, thanks!
