Firstly, am grateful for your replies; thanks to Virtual and ChadT. I will soon buy the stuff you pointed out and mothball the wheel covers that came with my base Fit (DX). Those covers prob. weigh a pound or so each so that'd be some less rotating mass to improve on unsprung weight (every little bit helps). I thought I read somewhere that the weight of the base steelies (wheels) is 17.7 lbs. each. Virtual, I see that you have those nice Canadian LX light alloy wheels that are similar to the Civic Hybrid's - would you know their weight compared to the 17.7 of the std. steelies of the Base model ? FYI, I asked a dealership here and they told me they cost around CDN$420. a pop. Can you believe that price ! Gives me more reason to just stick with the steelies. And yeah, in case it is not known yet, this is a FYI : the Canadian version of the Fit Sport does not have the paddle shifters anymore. The dealership also told me this when I got my base; they said it had something to do with the Canadian government's insistence on a certain car weight limit to pass a certain certification. The U.S. version, I guess, has got it better. Again, many thanks to you guys. It is good to have a forum where we can all help each other. This is a great site ! Safe driving to you all !

The steelies do weigh 17.7 lbs. I weighed them at work on a shipping scale. The Base hubcaps really make the car look "basic" .

I got some Honda accessory rims on ebay from a dealership in washington state. They weigh 16.7 lbs each and are genuine Honda rims made by enkie. They cost me $350 for the set and I had my stock tires mounted on them with the pressure monitor sensors. The installation cost $77 at the dealership I bought the car at.

Those Hybrid wheels look great on the canadian base too. You might be able to find a used set of those up there?

.So it was you who weighed them. Good info. I wonder though what the weight is for those Canadian LX light alloy wheels (rim & tire); they probably should be a tad lighter than the 17.7 lbs. you previously got. That is a steal for $350. for the four pieces; very, very good price ! Like I said, a dealer here quoted me approx. CDN$420. a piece for those LX Fit model alloy rims, a whopping CDN $1680. for the whole set and that is not yet with the taxes that they kill us with, up here. And yeah, they look good with the 6 spokes. Been biased for the 5 spokes but now that I've seen the 6 spokes on a Fit, they look actually better. Thanks for the help ChadT !</p>

Winter rims, huh? I forgot what they were. Had some when I lived in Michigan. I left them behind when I left there. Here, it snowed once. I think it was in '78 on a Wednesday. (Arizona)
