theres two harnesses at the bottom-
the lights are sep from the fan speed -- but plug in right next to it.
all you have to do remove is the bottom trim piece to see them
its a smaller gray plug.

I didn't see anything disconnected when I had the HU out again for another reason. I have the lower cover off, and did not see what you were talking about.Would it have any affect me having the 12volt plug disconnected ?

I had the same problem when I installed my head unit. I got sloppy and forgot to cover the end of one of the wires i wasn't using, which was touching a piece of metal behind the dash, which caused a fuse to blow. Can't remember which fuse it was but I know it was a 10 amp (maybe labeled Acc Light?) So check ur fuses, then check and see if u have any bare wires behind the head unit and tape them up.

I checked a few of the fuses in the fuse box and they looked ok, checked one marked "ACC Socket", looked fine.

I pulled head unit completely out, no bare wires, everything is plugged in solid. Looked around the ac controls, don't see any wires loose, disconnected, damaged but It is hard to get around them to get a really good view. I have the panel above the 12 volt outlet, off and can't see much because the white fresh air slider control takes up most of that space.Only one item behind the HU which is disconnected, a small square connector that appears to have connected to old HU for the IPOD connection that goes to glove box. I'm leaning towards a fuse but with so many to choose from, I'd hate to have to remove and ck each one individually unless someone knows exactly which fuse would handle this. If I can't figure this out, might have to take to dealer but I'm concerned with me changing the HU out, will this void any warranty ? I haven't cut any wires just used radio harness.

nahhh....don't take it to the dealer man for a fuse! I was in a situation where I blew out all my rear taillights but ended up finding the right fuse and replacing it myself. Always nice to save a trip to the dealer. If you don't want to pull each fuse to check them (I don't blame you!) you could just go up to the auto parts store and buy a fuse tester.

You were right, it's a 10 amp fuse in a socket labeled "small light", I replaced it and it blew again, now to find out what is causing it to blow.

Found the fuse, but when I replaced it, it blew again. Now ned to find out what is shorting it out.

Success! had two wires from the crutchfield adapter, one orange/white, another, orange. On the radio harness, had an orange/white listed as "Illumination".
The adapter listed orange as lighting, orange/white as dimmer. I had twisted all 3 together.Turns out the dimmer doesn't have a place to connect on new harness so I capped it off and just connected the other two, this time the fuse didn't blow. Now the lights work on the a/c dials.
