Idea: installing permanent bluetooth speakerphone?
Hi everyone,
relatively new 09 Fit owner here, I have enjoyed these forums since I got my Base Manual Fit in May. So far I have installed the Homelink Maplights in my new Fit based on information from this site. The only other thing I really wish my Fit had was Bluetooth for my phone. I recently picked up a $30 Motorola T305 Bluetooth speaker phone, and I must say, it works quite well.
So this got me thinking: why couldn't I take the thing apart and somehow install it permanently into the fit. Maybe in the visor or near the map lights somewhere?
All I need is 12 Volt power, which I have from the maplight, a spot to put the microphone and speaker, and a CAll button for answering the phone.
Maybe I could even hook it up to the stereo through the aux port so the sound would come out of the car speakers?
Anyone have any ideas? has anyone tried this?
I am considering buying another T305 and opening it up and seeing if I can access the speaker, microphone and buttons...
One complication is that the T305 has one feature I don't like: it turns off every 30 minutes if it is not in use, so when you get to your car you have to turn it on every time. So I would probably need a way to do to turn it on too, or figure out a way to bypass the auto off mode.
Please reply with ideas/suggestions/etc.

Theres a few options out there for you. I've installed a number of devices from Parrot. They start at about $150 and go up from there. The have a mic that I usually run to the top of the A pillar, a control/display part that goes wherever you can fit it, and a hide away module for the brains. What you do is physically cut the spear wires on the harness and hardwire the brain inbetween the wires. When you get a call, it cuts off the speakers regardless of what you are listening to and routes the call through it.
It sounds great for both sides, and will automatically connect everytime you turn on the car without taking thep hone out of your pocket. It also allows you to do voice dialing and search through your contacts on the display unit.
If I weren't doing an aftermarket deck with built in Bluetooth, I'd do one of these. It is ten times better than any other option in my opinion.
I have to agree, the Parrot is the way to go. I have one installed in my Fit and love it. I am in the car about2.5 to 3 hours a day, so I tend to talk on the phone a bit. Go the better route and get the Parrot. No need to mute music, no need to switch inputs, it does everything for you.
