I recently installed a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD and now I have this bluetooth adapter to put in
Some quick questions before I even try to tackle this:
Where do I get power for this? I don't want to tap into the HU's power line.
Any suggestions on where to place the adapter and microphone..
Tapping power on the HU's harness is fine. Judging by the way the P-bus cable for the adapter is made, it looks like you're actually supposed to do that. You can cut the HU's power in half and crimp cap all three together, or you can do the "poke and weave". That is where you take the HU's power wire, strip the insulation off in the middle, only removing about 1 centimeter or less of the insulation, to expose the copper inside. Then take a pick or something similar and poke a hole in the copper through the middle. Then take the wire you're connecting, strip off about 1 inch of the insulation, and put it into the hole, then wrapping the rest of the wire around the exposed copper wire of the main wire. Then take about about inch of electrical tape, tape it up real good and put a zip tie on it. This is the official MECP method. Do NOT use t-taps or anything else like that, they fail very easily. You can do the same with the ground if you're supposed to.
For the box itself, you should have plenty of room behind the HU for it. The mic is great when you run it under the drive side dash, and up to the top of the A-pillar. Some people will run it and stick it on the headliner behind the visor. Or you can run it and double-stick it with something right in the middle of the instrument cluster. Or by the rear view mirror.
You won't regret getting that, it's the best. Pioneer has the best Bluetooth, it sounds great.

yah, just tap into the red ACC wire on your HU to get power.
for the mic probably hook it up (just clips) at the corner of the A-Pillar.
the adapter(module) can stay inside the dash if it fits(?)

Had this bluetooth unit installed with my 4100 and it's awesome. Best part about the unit so far. I had it done professionally, but anyone who is considering this as an add on to their pioneer unit should definitely go for it. It's well worth the money.
It went great. Put the adapter in the lower glove box just in case I need to reset it. My mic is on the left side of the steering column.
Where is the a-pillar?
The A-pillars are the front pillars, they run along the sides of the windshield holding the roof to the car. The B-pillars are behind the driver and passenger seats, and the C-pillars are behind the back seats.
I ran my up the A-pillar and mounted it on top of it with the clip it came with. Those pillar covers are a pain, and I was never able to get them off. That's fine, because you just have to tuck it in. Just make sure the wire isn't in the way of the airbag!

anyone have any idea how you connect two add-ons to a Pioneer 3100, both bluetooth and sirius ? Is it juist kind of daisy-chained ? appears the sirius interface has a pass thru port.
