CARB Exempt status only affects after-market intake systems. And, BTW, there are
none that have EXEMPT stickers for CA buyers (so far). Exhaust systems do not matter. Smog inspection stations in CA will
refuse to do a smog test if the intake is non-stock (this applies to turbo and supercharger systems also)
unless there is a CARB Exempt sticker or back-up certificate. CARB stands for California Air Resources Board, and it only affects cars in CA.
Exhaust systems don't matter. As long as you have a tailpipe for him to stick in the sensor, the smog tech. won't care whose muffler you are wearing. You won't pass the smog test if you have deleted your cat.
