I went over some bumps pretty hard a few weeks ago. I also have 17" wheels. Does anyone else have this problem? I wonder what is causing it and whether or not it's covered under warranty.

You might want to check your axle universals as well. One ciould be fractured from that hard bumps and sets when you get going.
Try starting forward and backward to see if each change in direction exhibits that 'pop'.
Unless there's other damage indicting you it should be in limits of warranty.
