Good find Rich. Tried to + rep ya but I must be at my limit for + reps for ya.

Looked at this 3 times and have some comments.

55mpg in an 2005 Accord LX I'd love to know the drive route. Bet it's easy. 48.6 life time avg

I'll go look on CleanMPG for Wayne's car.

It's a mistake to run any other weight oil than recommended 5W-20. The eng clearances are designed for that oil and tinner is not a good idea and could shorten the eng life, Remember they way Honda geared out fits we spin the pee out of the at freeways speeds just like a motor cycle

7-10 sec is the time at ideal to recoup the startup cost. I always thought it was 45sec or so??? Anyone. On my schooling thread I posted the gal and $ saved based on the measure fuel flow at idle and the data tells me unless you are well over a min it just has little pay back considering.

I do the rabbit thing bit never say it called that.

Anyone else???

ditto............i do it and it works for me, I agree it may not be for everyone but one must learn how to drive their car which means knowing the car's limits and your own.

Also, I shared the link with a few guys at work and one was even trying some coasting in neutral in his AT Isuzu Trooper.

So what about that 7 to 10sec Anyone? Anyone watch the video lol Lost of details in it.

Spooked me and looking for that next shift up for me, I have gone back to shutting off often, in fact if it looks like more than 20sec, it's off including coasting into stops.

Would love to know how Wayne figured that out???

Anyone post on the clean form? Can you ask him???

I'm still wondering about the SG telling me the GPH being is so small it makes very little difference, (I calced around $40/ year one time I think) but at the same time I can see idling eats the heck out of any short term trip average. That 2nd part was what drove me to shut off in the past. I work like a dog to get 40mpg avg at the start of a trip just to see SG show it drop fast when siting wit hthe eng at idle.

Well I think if you're in a glide, the bump-start fire-up doesnt use ANY extra fuel. Aside for the split second when it's below idle RPM, the timing and ignition cycle should just pick up where it left off. I'm not sure about turning the key to start though. I try to do that as little as possible.

I know from watching my wifes CRV display, if the car is in drive and idling at a stop light it will loose 0.2mpg in 5 seconds vs. having it in neutral and loosing 0.1mpg in 8-9 seconds. The CRV is automatic.

bye the way I got her drafting the other day and she increased her mpg from 29 up to 36.5mpg(it is rated at 21 city and 27 hwy). She even increase mpg while going up hill with the A/C on drafting a semi!

DRAFT FTW!
