gas milage differences in us models 2007 till now

I have owned a 2007 5 speed base fit and I now drive a 2007 automatic sport fit.
My question is has gas milage improved in the three years in the US ? Is there still a discrepency between manual and automatic?

Off the subject; For any one that has followed my threads regarding gas milage I have not seen much change in my records. My sport fit now has 30000 miles and it still gets close to 30 mpg around town/ruel driving 38 freeway. I have not seen anything ever that is close to what my 5 speed manual fit acheaved in its first 10k miles which was 35mpg in town and 40 tp 45 mpg on freeways.

I just finished my 2nd tankfull in my '09 Sport 5-speed, and averaged 32.1 mpg with mostly in town driving. The first tank got 30.1, and I've admittedly been driving it pretty hard. Since the car only has less than 700 miles on it so far, and my foot will probably get lighter as the newness wears off, I expect it to get even better. But even if it doesn't, I'm very happy.

I dont have the ability to compare 2 cars that are almost identical aside from transmission..... but here is my side of the story.
A lot of companies post auto and manual achieving roughly the same EPA estimated gas mileage.... some even posting auto getting better mileage. I am a NONE believer of this. In my family we have both auto and manual tranny cars. The auto cars NEVER get EPA estimated mileage, always under. And no one in my family has a heavy foot either aside from myself. With a manual, I always get better mileage than EPA estimates, plus I tend to drive my manual cars w/ a bit more zest..... ok, a lot.
