Rust prevention

I just bought my wife a 2002 Accord and the rear fenders seem as though they may not have much longer. I know rust works from the inside-out and I need a way to stop this before too late. Also, will our Fits end up with the same problem eventually??? Friggin' New England road salt!

clean very well (sanding included), mask, coat rustoleum from the inside out.

yes, our Fits will do the same after a while. you can minimize by keeping a close eye on any chips you might have on the fender lip area and keep touching it up.

might even recommend e-taping it if your car is always wet from the weather.

It's like another tax we pay for the great privilege of living in the great state of New York. No matter how careful I am, or how often I wash the car, it will be a rolling pile of rust in about 5 years. God, how I hate upstate New York winters!

Thanks for tips so far. I know what you mean about these winters, you'd figure by now they'd have some crazy new way of making the problem areas on cars different!

honda's are notorious for having rusty rear fenders for some reason.
almost all 7-8+yr old hondas have it unless it was a garage queen
in the winter time.

rustolium is your friend.
