here's the contents of the S-317 steering boss (hub)... as you can see,
the ABS trick resistor's connector is the WRONG one...
doesnt matter though... the connector looked like this in about 5min...

Warning - Entertainment Only!!!
Ok, this is a DIY on how I went about the install. Doing this install
means that one of your main safety devices (driver's AIR BAG) will be
removed. myself or FitFreak WILL TAKE NO RESPONSIBLITY for any
injury or death resulting from this DIY.
This DIY is strickly for ENTERTAINMENT ONLY!!!
ok, here we go...
Here's the tools i used.
10mm socket for battery (neg)
T30 torx for removing factory steering wheel
14mm socket with extension for steering hub bolt
3mm hex key for the MOMO rivets.
and the rest you can figure out.
Undo the neg (ground) battery connector. (will loose stereo security
code).
after undoing, i waited 5min for the battery charge to drain out of the
car's electronics. I also stepped on the brake pedal for 15sec.
T30 torx to remove the airbag screws. (both sides)
then removed the bottom plastic cover on the steering wheel to
undo the SRS harness, horn connector, and removed the steering wheel.
took my 14mm socket and loosened the center steering bolt.
the bolt is loose. kept it on while i pulled the steering wheel at
3 and 9 o'clock, 12 and 6 o'clock so that it doesn't hit me in the
face like some newb installer when it comes off the shaft.
taped down the wire coil so it does not spin by accident. removed the
steering wheel.
undid the 2 philips screw heads (blue arrows) to remove the cruise
and horn harness. no cutting needed on these DAIKEI kits.
removed the outer cover of the Daikei (it's a 2pc unit) and placed
on the car. fed the cord through.
since the S-317 kit is not for our Fit's , i inserted the trick resistor
pin by pin... still works fine. no SRS error light.
just wrap around the harness like this...
then e-tape like so...
then put the outer Daikei cover on. looks nice and clean. put back
the 14mm bolt, hand tighten...
temporarily put the MOMO steering wheel on so you can tighten the 14mm
bolt. i used about 35-40lb/ft. tight but not super tight.
here's the back of the MOMO horn button. as you can see i cut the wire
long enough to sandwich between the hub spacer and the hub to make
continuity. i e-taped to the MOMO decorative ring to make the MOMO
emblem alignment easier.
connect the horn wire from the car...
here you can see how the bare wire is sandwiched...
then tightened down the screws snug, but not super tight.
re-connected the neg on the battery.
checked the horn for function, checked to make sure no SRS check light.
entered the stereo security code. everything works perfectly!
pretty nice, huh? matches the satin interior. car feels great!
****** UDPATE 7.05.08 FOR 9/360 ADJUST SPACER ALIGNMENT RING ***********
My steering wheel was cocked slightly 1 o'clock so got the Daikei
AS-01 Adjust Spacer which enables a fair amount of adjustment to fix the
centering. here's wat the package looks like:
It includes the adjust spacer for MOMO steering wheel (they also have
a Nardi version) 6 screws and 6 washers, and a hex wrench.
To install, i first removed the steering wheel from the steering wheel hub
and unpluged the hornwire. I was careful not to hit the horn connetor to
the hub cause it will sound the horn and scare the crap out of my
neighbors...
I only needed the hex key that came with the package. No other
tools needed.
Here you can see the ring spacer mounted onto the hub. As you can
see in the screw hole it has quite a bit of adjustment. Since the Daikei
are compatible with both MOMO and Nardi diameter steering wheels, my
MOMO ring spacer mounted to the Nardi screw holes. the adjust spacer
for the Nardi's would obviously mount to the MOMO screw holes.
Then sandwiched the horn harness to the hub as I did before to make
continuity, and just screwed down the steering wheel. My steering wheel
is now perfectly centered.
On top of that, the spacer added another 10mm so I now have 145mm
from the dash to the steering wheel. That's nearly 6"!
Took a quick test drive and everything works perfectly. The car feels
great too now with that added hub length.
i can still reach the turn signal stalk just fine.

Hey Ken- it looks GREAT! Nice job on the DIY. I have convinced myself that although the feel of my steering wheel isn't perfect, its good enough to put up with. However, I have printed your info. on the installation and the part numbers to file for future reference, just in case I change my mind.
Again, VERY NICE JOB! +rep to you (my very first rep. to anyone because it is meaningless now, but you deserve another point anyway).

thanks, manxman. yah, this mod is awesome.
to fine tweak the steering's center i ordered a Daikei AS-01 which
is a centering ring/spacer. my factory steering wheel was perfect
noon (center) but with the aftermarket it's slightly cocked 1 o'clock.
was the same way with the WorksBell hub for my other car (on that
car it was cocked very slightly 11 o'clock) and this centering spacer
perfected it. (and also adds additional 7mm ).

Reason: Daikei Part number is AS-01, not AS-10.

went motoring this morning and man... gotta say this setup is very nice.
nice as in the steering feedback is a step refined vs stock, the input is
sharper, and it just looks good too. there's so much more benefit
than just the steering wheel position. the car feels quite better, more
in-line with sport coupes.

thanks, GAFIT!
i think japanparts.com is probably sick of me ordering these little bits
the last couple of weeks cause their profit margin is very small.
my centering spacer order hasn't been confirmed yet. lol...
they're more accustomed to getting orders for expensive bits like
body kits, turbo kits, suspension, etc. and also entire cars to be
exported out of Japan.
btw, the total cost for this steering wheel project:
MOMO Champion steering wheel: $259 (probably find it cheaper online)
Daikei S-317: $150 (i *think* S-319 has the correct SRS connector)
Daikei 20mm spacer: $25 (not used right now)
Daikei 30mm spacer: $25
And this Adjust Centering Spacer will be approx $35 (normally $45).
Im using my discount points tha ive accumulated. The above are
'shipped' prices.
Im going to be ordering some custom screws for my Daikei because
i can't find a local store with the tapered metric machine screws that
is a tad longer than wat came with the 30mm spacer. I want to use
the decorative ring on the MOMO's horn button if possible (the one
you see in the pict above). Right now im using the horn button without
the decorative ring. Probably going to order those screws from Misumi.
without the decorative ring. looks pretty sporty this way...

sent out the screw request to Misumi... hopefully they can make these
for me.
bascially M5x0.8x50mm with a small head diameter of 0.95mm.
Almost everyone sells M5x0.8 countersunk hex flat head cap screws but
not in 50mm... and most minimums are 100pcs at $50+ lol
grainger has something similar but the head is 11.1mm diameter which is
too huge. MOMO steering wheel countersink is about 10mm so you want
it to be a hair smaller.

Damn Ken, that wheel looks sweet! Is that suede on top or alcantera(sp?) I've had a few different Momo wheels in various cars and they've all been a treat!

Ken, extremely impressive DIY man! Are you sure you dont want that to be its own sepreate thread in the DIY section?
Anyway look killer man. I wouldnt mind having the wheels closer to me, infact it would make things much more comfortable in the driver seat. Ill keep this thread in mind if i ever pull the trigger on a new steering wheel. Nardi deep corn is what i have in mind, with the quik release thing. Ultimate theft control haha!
Again great job!

yah, the seating position on my FitS is like a normal sports coupe
now. very comfy to motor in. and i mentioned before, but it's not
just the seating position you get improvements on. the steering
feedback is GREATLY improved too.

I'm jealous! I'd be so much more comfy if the wheel was just back a little more. Not to mention a wheel like yours!

yah, daikei have hubs that go out 100mm so that's quite a bit of
variety you have.
they have 10,15, 20,25, 30,40,50,75,100.
the 40 and higher are aluminum hubs that looks like this. nice on a
project car for sure!
here's wat mine looks like:
