The Official Blog from GD to GE to GK to GTI to R?
so during the last recession i bought a new 370Z per my old post i dug up.. this recession it seemed appropriate to pickup a new 2020 SUPRA Premium in black so i did. i did not do a trade, so yes, although unrelated to weekend cars, i still have the GK with even more rust now... lol

Hope you and the family are well.

yah, there is also my WRX (dd who's been asleep for 5weeks now) and FiestaST (grocery getter) ..
Congrats on your X3, and thanks. I honestly don't know much about these B58 engines. even scratched my head where the oil dip stick was while I was at the dealer. LOL (for those that dont know, there is none because it is measured electronically from the HU..). i ordered a Bimmer oil change kit and extra liter from an online tuner shop i usually buy Golf-R stuff from.
thanks, marmaladedad! hope you and family are well too. the car buying process was very easy. i saw an ad on autotrader from this dealer, sent an email directly to the dealer's sales department in the morning with an offer, they came back with a counter offer within a few min, we agreed on a price over the phone and had paperwork started while I setup a test drive for that afternoon, i went in with my pikachu face mask on that my wife made (sales guy also wore a face mask) for a test drive, car checked out, sat with finance guy (he also had a face mask on) for 5-10min to sign the papers, out of the dealer within 1hr. it was by far one of the easiest car purchases next to buying one of my cars online via my iphone and having it delivered to my house 2 days later. that was also fun.
on a side note...
so today i was checking out Honda incentives thinking maybe i should pickup a new HRV for the wife during this covid fiasco.. and still Honda is too cheap to offer any 'real' incentives. a $1000 royalty cash? WTF.. we are borderline heading towards depression + other brands are offering 0APR for 72 months with 180day deferment on first payment. you think someone just thinking about maybe buying a car is going to jump at a mere $1000? LOL Honda is so dumb these days. will take a look at Subaru's since theyre offering 0APR for 63 months.. buy a more expensive car while taking advantage of the incentives.
have a nice weekend and stay safe everyone!
Kenchan, I bought an N55 powered X3 as our baby hauler. You and I will have much to discuss.
I am jealous ... you have quite the garage there.
A B58 powered vehicle is 100% on my mind .... I predict a 340i will be the next in my garage. IF .... I had one... I would probably be utilizing this list:
https://bmwtuning.co/build-500hp-b58/
I followed a similar one for my n55, and will be going stage 2 real real soon in our "family car".
CHEERS GENTS. I miss you guys (yes, even mike410b). The Bmw forums are not the same.

so long story short, i traded in my GK recently.. so no more Fit.
kinda bitter sweet.
yah it wasnt supposed to happen this way but my usual sales guy at Subaru was willing to give me a super deal on a new 2020 Forester Limited, and top dollar for the GK based on milage and my honest description i sent over email (including blemishes on paint, etc). i initially thought the offer was kinda like bait to get me to come in and they would take a look at the GK and 'ohhh we werent expecting this POS rusted garbage' and drop the trade value by $5K or something.. but i just played along expecting my OTD would be about $2K higher than their quoted price. i was okay to buy the Forester without trade if things didnt work out for the GK, so i didnt care either way.
i got there and they had the car ready for my quick solo test drive to check everything over while they appraised the GK. after the test drive and appraisal, paperwork still showed the same offer, not only that, they pre-approved me for 0%APR for 63 months (3months deferred which I didnt care for) so air-shook hands on that offer with the 0%APR 60months with no penalty for early buyout. i was very pleased cause i have some expensive projects planned for my garage this summer and this conveniently freed up some cash. i promised my sales guy ill be back for the next gen STI in a few yrs.
my wife who will drive the car 99.9% of the time took it out for errands and work last week and she was very pleased. it has all modern electronics including the Starlink app controlled remote start and all the features activated so she got all that set up on her iPhone. i know she mentioned about the HRV at one point, but Subaru's are just more cool for AWD in totality so decided for the first time since getting my driver's license to drop Honda entirely from my line up. Sad, but Honda has not brought one car I truly 'wanted' in the last decade so it's really not my fault this is the result. .. even forced me to try an AT Toyota.. how crazy is that.
Supra is doing real well. i recently installed an Eventuri CF intake and with the Stage1 i hear people are pulling like 400whp/500wtq. crazy power, love the car. so beautiful in black, fast too.. 0-60 comes below 3.5 sec which is normal for sports cars this day and age. hope Honda can turn things around by offering a real sports car instead of focusing too much on that halfarsed CTR i would never buy.
Take care everyone and stay healthy!

evilchargefan - sorry I hadn't visited this site since May. I do use FCP as you noted, also ECSTurning, and Turner Motorsports for my euro needs.
Hope everyone is doing well. my family and I have been covid19-free (or maybe we already got it super early without knowing), not sure but we are doing well. ive been aching all over actually from not getting any younger..lol. been working on the house and garage mainly since may.. and got a lot done.
as for car stuff, the new Forester is doing well, my wife like it. i dont know if i mentioned, but i got the front side windows tinted with Pinnacle 50% to block uv and heat. looks good, matches the rear factory tint a lot better; it was more for function rather than just appearance.
on my Supra i recently got new front tower braces in anodized black which look frikken awesome next to my Eventuri CF intake and engine cover, and CF paddles made by 3D Design (JDM). can you believe the paddles cost $800 for the pair? LOL yeah super high quality though. it completely replaces the factory paddles by taking apart the steering wheel. i am real happy with how the car turned out despite she being AT-only. Im digging the ZF8AT as i am letting my left ankle rest. my leg is starting to ache again after driving the STI for any longer than an hour and recently getting progressively worse. i think my time with the STI is limited, My other cars have a lighter clutch so no issue driving those. at least for now.
my work started opening the office in groups this month following new safety protocols but we were given a choice to not come in until after Labor Day. so im still working from home.
have a great weekend and keep safe. dont let your guard down, wear a mask and maintain social distancing until a cure is found. no sense risking your entire life for a couple of months of this 'new normal' living.

How have you folks been? .. it's been over a year. I nor anyone in my family caught the virus mainly because we never really went out to public places besides me to the DMV to get my driver's license renewed.. and been taking advantage of curb-side pickup at the stores and restaurants so a safe distance away from others. We are also fully vaccinated with the dual shot Pfizer.
I started going back to the office on a once a week basis since 2 weeks ago.. can go in more if I wanted but no need. domestic business travel is allowed at work, but with inadequate rental cars available at the airports i think i'm going to pass until at least after LaborDay. even so, i don't see myself traveling like i use to for work which is a good thing as i never really enjoyed it.. and i'm not getting any younger.
I haven't changed any of my cars except sold the FiestaST earlier this year mainly because i never drove it anymore after the stay-at-home got extended. i barely drove my WRX in 2020 too.. There is a neighbor down the street from me who drives a GE. it's good to see the Fit still roaming the streets from time to time. I've not done any car mods this year besides update my radar detectors to MAX360c's on 2 of my cars. My V1's were outdated and ValentineOne was off-line for months during the pandemic so got tired of waiting and hopped ship to Escort. I like it more than the V1 as it continues to learn false alarms as I drive the car.
Anyway, hope you are all well and safe. Have a nice remainder of the summer!
