Relative merits of different aux input adaptors.

Hi - new here although not new to Fits: I have a 08 MT Sport that I purchased new, and have just purchased an 08 Base AT for DD.

I have read the assorted threads about installing an aux input on the base, and have decided that the option that will work best for DD's fit is the "stick a standard adaptor into the CD changer connector". I am hopeful having read the threads about this that it might be possible to do this without pulling the radio.

My decision is now which of the adaptor that are on the market should I buy. Specifically, what more am I getting if I purchase say the USA SPEC PA15-HON IPOD AUX ADAPTER over this HONDA FIT 2008/08 iPOD/iPHONE/AUX/ZUNE/iTOUCH INPUT - eBay (item 120399387135 end time Aug-26-09 23:23:32 PDT) or any of the ones that I have seen priced in between these.

All I want is something that is functonally equivalent to the aux jack that's in the sport model. Fine if it charges, but no hassle if it doesn't.

I suppose I'm asking if you get a much better product for approx $100 more, or more functionality or support or reliability.

TIA

I would recommend buying the OEM sport aux input (~$30) and making your own cable. Best bang for the buck and looks OEM.

My understanding is that that will require pulling the radio and the console? I've thought hard about this and I would prefer not to do that.

If my only option is something that costs $150 + then I'll consider it, but if the $45 option does the job then I'll stick to my plan I think. Still - that's why I'm asking.

The USA Spec model will for sure do the job and has been verified as reliable by people on FF. The cheaper one on ebay will probably work just fine as well but I wouldn't be surprised if it's made with cheaper materials for that price. Good luck.. either way, plugging them in will probably be a pain in the ass. :P

I am sure plugging it in won't be easy but as we are both female we have quite small hands so it might be doable. I can see that doing it your way would be better, if only there weren't so many reports of the difficulty involved. I'd consider paying someone to do it if I could find an installer in the area who had shown themselves to be competent.

As a follow up question (as I have been feeling around the back of the headunit on my sport) - is the layour back there the same on a sport and a base? That is - the open slot that I can feel back there on my sport is the CD changer slot?

The base fit is not here at the moment so I can't check.

PPS - this was the other choice Blitzsafe - HON / M-LINK1 V.2X

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (and I might be: I've been flipping back and forth over these things until my head spins) but it would appear that the more expensive ones charge the ipod and the cheaper one does not, and the USA SPEC one allows you the option to control the ipod from the HU. I also need to check ipod versions.
