The CD player in my 08 base MT conked out (CDs get stuck, don't play). I've always hated that it didn't have an aux input. I'm looking around at options and it seems like the most straightforward is to get an OEM replacement from a salvage yard.
I have a few questions...

1. Will the Sport model head unit fit into the Base model dash?
2. If the answer on 1 is yes, then how is the Aux input wired into the Sport model stereo? How difficult would it be to install an aux jack somewhere by the cup holders and wire it up to the Sport stereo?

My other option is to get a base model stereo and when I'm switching them out add a USA Spec iPod/aux adapter. Obviously the first option is cheaper if it'll work.

I just saw the sticky on base model aux input in the I.C.E. forum. Maybe I'll post this there. Mods, you can delete this if you see it to avoid cross posting. Or if somebody responds here, I'm happy to get whatever answers I can.
