Do Security Alarms work well? like the ones with the " kill starter " thing.... and how well? is it easy to disable?... im just curious and if not which brand/model do one recommend that is a bargain?
well i have clifford on my other car, and its not cheap by far, but it most definetley works. ive had someone hit it and someone try and break into it and both times it went off. but yeah, not cheap. lol sorry
yup.. i had a viper 5900 with remote start and pager. i used to get all kinds of alarm beeps to make me run to my car.
one time it beeped and i ran out of my work. and someone had made a big dent on my car from one of the costco carts. as the cart was still on my car as she was loading her vehicle.
and another time...
i had left my hatch open a bit. one of my neighbors had seen it so he shut it. my pager was beeping like crazy. so when i ran out...he just told me he had shut it for me.
so i think they work

Alarms work, but like the old saying goes. If they really really want your car or something in the car, then alarm isnt going to stop them.

The alarm only works as well as the install. If you have a poorly installed alarm, then it will be easy to disable. I always hide the brain as best as I can, usually underneath something you have to remove to get to. Also, additional sirens are a plus, as well as battery backups.

the sport has a passive alarm, and im pretty sure that if its started with out the key it has a fuel cut off. Alarms are deterents, the woodby thifts will think twice about braking in. If some one real wants there car there going to take it. About all you can do is do every thing you can to slow them down and make it harder. Some of the honda guys have installed fuel cut off switches in the car, that is proble one of the best things you can do to help prevent your car from being taken
The Fit has omething better than the S2000's immobilzer since the fit is one of the few honda's to fully use the Canbus system. Basically, no original key, no start. If you get a remote starter installed then you are opening up the possibility to have you car hot-wried since there will either be a Key that has been chopped so tha the "chip" can be used to fool the car into starting. Or an electronic bypass module that simulated the specific coding of one of your factory keys. This leaves thieves a way tog et the car started.
Alarms only work well if it is a 2-way alarm system and you are within range of your car to receive the transmission. Sirens don't do squat anymore. Wa too many people in the past had larms false alarming all the time to the point that peple don't even look at a car with the siren going off.
If your really concerned about your fit being stolen, nothign ebats theft insurance. Alarms don't stop flatbed trucks. For vandalism, a 2 way alarm is the way to go.

This is totally true. About four weeks ago, we had our 99 Honda Civic Ex stolen right out of our driveway. It had to kill engines and a Standford alarm system. Well look at how well that worked. They probably just jacked the car up on a dolly and drove off. Alarms are great for the those people who are stupid and unexperienced for stealing cars. But like he said if they really want your car, they well do anything to get around the alarm. Like even kill the battery line to the alarm. Who knows.
