Alarm/starter

Hey

Should be getting my fit in about a week and i'm looking to get a remote start and alarm. I've bought a 5spd sport has anyone installed either of these yet. I searched but didnt see anything.

Winter is not fun without a remote start.

I wouldn't put a remote start in my M/T since you have to bypass or eliminate the clutch in to start safety feature for it to work. You would be better off going with a block heater. https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-diy-repair-maintenance/8864-block-heater.html

It would be a shame if you remote started your car and it took off down the road without you, went thru a wall, ran into another car, RAN OVER A CHILD. Up to you but it's not the best idea for warming up a M/T on a cold morning.

A block heater on a timer does just fine and it's a lot safer. Just don't drive off with it plugged in !!!

Car comes factory with a block heater. I have no access to a plug at work because i park on the street. I leave my car in N all the time with the Parking break on so its not going anywhere. The remote will also show the car is running and for how long (aslong as i go with a pager alarm)

You're the first one I've heard of that a block heater came factory installed, or did you order it that way ? Anyone else have one factory installed ? Are you sure the dealership didn't install it ? What model did you get since kps is in Canada and got a sport LX and his didn't come with one as standard equipment I'm sure he would like to know ?

As long as you know what you're doing the only thing stopping you is the clutch safety switch feature. You'll probably have to install it yourself since there would be a liability issue with a professional or business installing it for you. So go for it. I've done it myself but on an automatic vehicle. It's not all that difficult, just follow the instructions that come with it.

Good luck.

All the options beyond model and transmission are dealer-installed. I forgot to order the block heater as an option because I ordered in the middle of summer.

Several companies make RS that is Manual compatible...Scytek (scytek.net) in N. Hollywood, CA, and Clifford (directed.com - Vista/San Diego, CA) Concept and IntelliGuard series will do RS with the IntelliStart4. The Matrix line will NOT do it so no 2 way from them. Directed also makes an Imobbiliser bypass that doesnt need an extra key.

Call around to different car stereo shops. I called about 12 different ones and found only 1 that would install a starter on a M/T.

I'm having it installed in a couple weeks.

Remote Start on M/T Fit

Just finished installing a Remote Start & Alarm on my M/T Fit. Had no problems took me about 6 hours. Took my time to do it right. Works great. The Unit is a JTI, Jt 400S with manual transmission reservation. I also used a transponder bypass kit, no extra key was needed...

Had mine installed on my Sport M/T last friday. It was an Ultra Starter brand alarm/starter. www.ultrastarters.com
Works pretty well, I'm happy with it. Sure beats getting into a cold car in the dead of winter.
