Often this means the very best in Street tires-

Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs have done well but now Bridgestone RE-11 might challenge- we will have to see.

Certainly the Star Specs come in good sizes for the Fit at a reasonable cost.

Here's how close it was- (only three runs)

Raton (Honda Fit Sport) 35.643 seconds, 50th on raw time of 70, 34th PAX
BMW 325 35.906 sec., 53rd raw time, 39th PAX
Lexus IS 300 37.882 sec., 63rd raw time, 57th PAX
08FitSport 38.001 sec., 65th raw time, 58th PAX

The championship had only experienced drivers best in class. 70 out of the 115 we normally will have.

The difference from 1st to 2nd was 0.263 sec. and difference from 3rd to 4th was 0.119 seconds. That was really close. A blink of an eye is 0.3 seconds.
Essentially dead even except for electronic timing- thank goodness for that.

I can't agree with you more here... I can't wait to see what the RE-11 can do ... since it is a update of the older RE-01R (not really that old)

Plus the RE-11 come in 205/50

I was thinking about running 205/50 in front and 195/50 in the rears RE-11... once my dunlops die a much deserved death

What do you think? Is ST we can run up too 225 I believe but that wont fit under the fenders of a GD Fit

Thanks Mini-Fit and FitFlowJoe! This was my 1st experience in a run-off. It was a great challenge. It rained the night before so the course was a little wet. That definately slowed the times down and changed the course "feel." The Dunlops handled the wet conditions great!

Managed to walk the course 3 times--which was very helpful. Also managed to draw a good diagram of the course. This helped me study it as I waited for my runs.

I was really fortunate that the 1st run went so well. I tried to make adjustments in the following 2 runs but couldn't quite beat the 1st run time.

I've run the Dunlops (race only) for 3 events now. Not sure how much more events they have--maybe one more season. (?) We'll see about those Bridgestones. They only have 195/50/15 and 205/50/15 sizes. Not sure how they'll work w/ the Fit. Not sure if 205s will rub. But I do like the Dunlops!

Planning (God willing) to get a c-pillar bar soon...then, that's it for the mods for a while.

Thanks again Mini-Fit for all your instruction and 08FitSport (Tom) for really pushing me to drive better just to keep up. Tom and I will continue to work @ getting better. Hopefully, there will be other Fits joining us too.

Here's the videos from the run-offs:

Cheers!

The wet conditions might have helped you. The tires are decent and yours are fairly new.

Expect them to last a year or longer with some care- try to save them for autocross and run other tires for daily street driving.

Walking the course many times is always good but do pay attention and don't get distracted by others. Focus on studying where the fast and slow parts are and make some plan for driving then be free to adjust once you get out there. The best way can vary from one driver to the next but your times will tell. I often walk 7 to 10 times at least. I always draw a map with notes on how to drive it. I write suspension and tire pressure notes. I write the pacing distances for saloms and key cones.

Probably there is not pressing reason to change to Bridgestones yet. See what others report first. 205/50-15 is a workable size.

Great Job Guys !!! Keep it up ...

SO here is where I stand, but I'm still having a really rough time with the 89' Civic Si's those things are down right MEAN!!!... I am WAY OFF their time more then two second... but remeber these cars are trailer ed to the track and driven by SCCA Pro Driver, they compete on the national tour (aka. NOT FAIR)... they have NO A/C, radio, or streetable suspension spring rates

But I still think I still did fairly well...

5th out of 11 cars in ST Class

68th out of 180 cars in PAX

Here is the official report:

That's some stiff competition! Darn Civics! For the longest time, Tom (08FitSport) and I could never catch this Civic in our class....we called it "The Nemisis." haha.

Way to go Fernando! Got get 'em!

OK, after a few months summer break

The Fit Sports are back at autocross and did pretty well.

1. Fit Sport 34.078 sec 57th raw time, 37th of 114 on PAX.
2. Scion tC 34.645 sec 61st raw time, 45th on PAX.
3. Nissan Altima 35.534 sec 69th on raw time, 61st on PAX.
4. Fit Sport 35.752 sec 73rd raw time, 64th on PAX.
5. Honda Civic 36.231 sec 82nd raw time, 68th on PAX.
three others (Subaru Legacy, 240SX, Suzuki SX4)

By comparison in other Street Touring classes

STS
1. Miata 33.451 sec 46th on raw time, 25th on PAX. (Experienced)
2. Toyota MR2 33.831 sec 53rd on raw time, 34th on PAX.
three other Miatas

STU
1. BMW M3 33.982 sec 54th on raw time, 47th on PAX.
2. new STi 35.035 sec 65th on raw time, 65th on PAX. (stock tires)
3. new STi 35.210 sec 66th on raw time, 66th on PAX. (stock tires)
4. Lancer Evo 36.611 sec 85th on raw time, 83rd on PAX (novice driver)

For street tires, 34.0 sec is very decent given the course which favored more powerful cars yet the STU cars did not get too far ahead.

Glad to see you guys are still tearing it up locally! I miss my Fit sometimes, it was a fun daily driver. I want to get another one day, but it'll have to be a little more like a base Mini for base Mini money.

I traded up for a killer deal on a 2008 CR in March.

So far, our Fits are managing to hang in there, but the times in our ST class are super close. Sounds like your trade up was for the best. The Mini is probably another really fun and nimble car to daily drive. The Minis and Miatas really fly on the courses here. Cheers! And Merry Christmas! I hear it snowing in NJ.

vs STS class
1. Miata 35.052 seconds

Event results updated to end of Jan 2011

The competition is intense and victory goes to the most skilled driver that day.

The Fit can hold it's own and any win will need to be earned vs the Subaru GC8 (legal in ST class).

Great job driving guys.

So far for the mid season on Points-

1. Raton 87 points on 9 events out of 90 possible
2. Altima 58 points
3. Tanukifit 56 points
4. Subaru 37 points
5. Sentra 32 points

Denham - I noticed some of your thread in the VCMC forum (and audi2000tq's comment ) Fit's probably most competitive in H-stock, but...then ST, then FSP, then ? I'm assuming you know the usual links to SCCA rule tables etc. Earlier Fit's are the way to go since there's no TPMS and CEL issues to skirt around for stock although the GE's have a bit more hp and tq.

Note the high stock offset required for 07 fits of +55. Friends up here that did a lot (like 6-7 set ups) of experimenting with wheels scratch their heads when they hear of people with +41 offsets not rubbing without bodywork mod's - especially if you're doing something like autox. ie a +38 offset with 205/50/R15 tyres moves the wheel/tyre towards the bodywork by ~32mm. When I have a full car and/or hit larger bumps on corners I rub at +45 (~25mm closer to the bodywork). More info on wheels that have fit without rolling fenders, grinding off clips etc can be found here:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-shoes/38537-45-lightweight-wheel-thread.html

Nothing in 13"s or 14"'s like you're looking for, but who knows. Note the list at the start hasn't been updated for a while and you'll have to run through the thread.

A progress rear sway bar really helps handling. I've also heard of people taking out the FSB (the guys in the Phillipines) and adjusting spring rates to get more balance.

I've also looked at coilovers after getting some opinions on dampers/springs.
http://www.raceinspired.com/p-21915-buddy-club-n-coilovers-damper-kit-honda-fit-2006-2010.aspx

The swift springs also look interesting if you don't want to go right to adjustable suspension.
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-suspension-brake-modifications/20269-spring-comparision-2.html

Again the list is a little out of date, so you'll have to look up some of the newer stuff on manufacturer's websites.

The intake's a popular mod since the stock box really does twirl the air around. Note the stock set up is already a cold air intake whereas most of the after-market ones seem to be short ram intakes or variations thereof.
If you're going stock: 33-2359 - K&N Replacement Filters, Replacement Air Filter

Note: if you get the weapon r race header with the cat delete it puts you into FSP (Sugarphreak in Calgary was there before he parted out) versus the weapon r street header. T1R (A & J) is is supposed to make a pretty good one too. T1r more in the mid rpms, Weapon r lower down (according to manufacturer's sales literature-grain of salt?) J's Racing is supposed to provide the best dyno, but also most expensive (cannot remember where dyno's were)

J's Racing The X'tream Honada Ride

I've heard the pulley's may not be worth getting (T1R, unorthodox)-hard work, no measurable gain on independent dyno's?

I haven't looked into exhaust (this is my daily driver), but the dyno's on A & J's b pipe and catback threads look interesting.

All the interior bars also seem like they'd work in theory, but decrease my utility/hauling capacity.

I really like the short shifter;
T1R's harder to install but cheaper, https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/aj-r...tion-tech.html

Quaife makes a LSD and after market final drive's are available:

A & J in Richmond also has a fair bit of stuff for the Fit; look for their sales at the end of summer, black Thursday, Xmas, and New Years.

I've heard the Star Specs are best in Canada because they heat up faster and since we don't get the higher temperatures like they do (for the most part) in the southern US. I've only run RE-11's and have been pretty happy with them. It's colder at 1200m elevation though. Not sure if contingencies affect your decision (I'm not competitive-yet).

Here's someone looking at mod or sp;
Racing Ready » Honda Fit, Extremely Modified, Autocrosses

Don't ship with UPS (they the most expensive and want more at the door) or set up a shipping address across the line for free/discount shipping like other's in Van have done. My sig below has the mod's I've done so far. I need to work on a lower control arm, then maybe-maybe swift springs after a wheel replacement, racing magnetics, and another driving school. Haven't worked out the racing budget this year yet.

I'd also like to get an aftermarket seat that's street touring legal

Have fun, maybe see you at the KSC, Packwood, or CAC Nationals in Ft. MacLeod.
