Is there a hot lead somewhere to connect a USB........

Hello all,

Is there a hot lead somewhere in the back passenger area or in the console area for installing a USB port for back passengers? I would prefer this to always have power available. I'm also thinking of installing this
socket socket
on the back facing spot of the console.

If anyone has done this, is there a link?

Well yeah, having a motorcycle battery will not support a second cigarette lighter, but I ended up scraping the pretty jacket for the motorcycle battery and ended up getting a bigger battery. Yeah it would have been nice to put on the passenger side, but that's another story.

Anyways I have a bigger "normal" battery that can support a second cigarette lighter. If there's no hot leads anywhere, then I'll just run a wire straight from my battery.

There is an always hot wire for the radio and ignition that you could use for low current and with a fuse. Running a new line from the fuse box or battery would be best though.

How about a power feed to the cargo area light (but you should use 5 amps max)

I'd just take power from the 12v socket!

Yeah I was thinking that too the other day. That cargo light is prefect. There's power with no key inserted or anything. I'll have to trace the line. Any idea where to start looking or where it travels?

Thanks, that gives far more possibilities too. Might even go with two sockets. I'll be easily under 5 amps and will tie in a fuse too.

Red wire with white tracer; you will have limited access to it by prying cargo light out the best way doing iit to make break out splitter (with male and female connections

Thanks doctor J,

Your post was VERY helpful and much appreciated. I finally got thinks connected today and it actually looks like it'll work! When I get things finished I'll post up what I did. It wouldn't have been done without help around here.
