Slow getting from fourth to fifth gear
Slow getting from fourth to fifth gear
I’ve had a 73,000 mile used engine swapped in after my original engine went bad. This newer engine was installed by a competent mechanic at a local shop and has been amazing. My car feels new and very peppy!!
I wanted to see and test this new engine at higher highway speed to see if it would act like it should, like wanting to test my top speed. Once I get around 85 MPH it feels weaker and struggles to get over the hump to get from 4th gear into 5th with the accelerator pressed all the way. It’s like stuck in 4th gear forever at around 6K RPM’s unless I hit a lower grade on the road and it gets to go a little faster and closer to the redline and then finally onto 5th.
It doesn’t really want to go any faster than 90MPH or so. I remember this was not the case with my original engine.
At regular speed with normal driving and up to 75MPH it acts beautifully and as it should and getting to all the gears as expected.
My tires are properly inflated as well.
