Question Antenna upgrade?

Hi all,

New to the forum. I got an 08 Sport manual a couple months ago and am loving it!

I have the stock radio and am noticing that my radio reception is fairly poor overall in comparison to previous vehicles I've owned. I also noticed that if it's raining the reception is very poor to the point that I can barely hear the radio.

I have heard that the stock 08 Toyota Matrix antenna is an easy upgrade. Can anyone vouch for this? Or can anyone recommend another plug-and-play antenna that they've had success with?

I found a used one on eBay that I may order if people think this will make the reception much better. Link:

Thanks!

Welcome. I had the same issues, but it doesn't bother me. I have the same exact car. I usually just play music off my aux cord and phone. That antenna might be sketch going through a car wash lol

Yep. That's the one you want. I bought that antenna for my gd3 because I think it looks better. It does improve reception a bit.

I did the swap to the Toyota Matrix antenna back in 2008 after I bought my 2007 Fit Sport. As I recall it worked maybe slightly better than the Honda antenna, but not substantially better. But it looks different and I like the form factor better than the Honda so I have used the Toyota one since then. The Toyota is skinnier and longer and more flexible. The Honda is short, stubby and stiff. With either one, I definitely recommend removing it before going through a brush type automatic car wash. It is an easy 10 second job to remove and replace.
