Shift into 2nd grinds after clutch replacement.
Shift into 2nd grinds after clutch replacement.
I just had the pleasure of replacing the clutch on my brother 2008 Fit base model with 262K miles on it.
The transmission mount on the front driver side was bad, so after have the bolts brake, drilling them out and re-tapping them, I installed a new motor mount. I mention this incase it might be related to the problem.
Problem: Car shift very easily in all gears EXCEPT 2nd gear. Shifting into second will grind, then go in. If RPM's are less than 1000, shifting into second is fine, it is just when shifting from 1st to 2nd, or from 3rd to 2nd.
I did blead the clutch fluid, and clutch slave cylinder was replaced.
Manual transmission fluid was replaced with Honda Manual transmission fluid, about 1.6 quarts.
My brother said this was not an issue before the clutch went bad.
The clutch had broken springs and the clutch was basically stuck to the flywheel.
I replaced the clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, rear engine seal.
The only issue is the grinding when shifting into 2nd. For now I have advised my brother not to use 2nd gear, but I would appreciate any suggestions on what to look at / adjust.
Thanks.
