OEM Brake Pads Still Available?
OEM Brake Pads Still Available?
I learned a long time ago that aftermarket brake pads on a Honda are an almost guaranteed way to get nasty pedal pulsing after awhile. It is time to get my front brakes done again and a check of some of the online Honda parts sources makes it appear that OEM brake pads are no longer offered by Honda for my 07 Fit Sport.
A) Does anyone know if this is true?
B) If so, what is a good workaround? I have heard people talk about cryogenically treated rotors that should resist warping, but some online looking tells me this is not always true.
If Honda parts are no longer available I am disinclined to go back to the dealer who did the job the last time, but will be picky about aftermarket parts. No racing/autocrossing will be involved, just all-around driving on an aging car where I am looking for vibration-free stops.

I believe you are overreacting. Honda and other manufacturers don't make brake pads (or other parts or fluids). They buy them from suppliers. OEM only means you get what the maker of the vehicle installed at the factory....and even these are good up to a price, as the cars have to be competitive in their price range.
..............meaning you can get as good or better (or worse) than Honda (or anyone else) installed, if you are willing to pay for the quality, and understand the different materials, which would be strictly your choice.

Thanks, but . . .

What I don't know is, presuming I can't get what Honda has been using/selling for the last 15 years, what do people recommend for avoiding a bad pedal pulse in 10k miles (as happened the last time I went aftermarket, and that was fixed with Honda OEM pads and no replacing/resurfacing of my old rotors.)
I have always found genuine Honda parts from these guys -
