GD Fit / Jazz differences

So I was looking at the wikipedia page for this car for some reason and noticed that it lists two lengths for North American and all other cars
3,830–3,850 mm (150.8–151.6 in) (Worldwide)
4,000 mm (157.4 in) (U.S. & Canada)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_...rst_generation)

That's 17-15cm differences which is pretty huge (that's what she said). Did they really make the NA cars longer? Does it all go into the trunk since the wheelbase seems to be fixed? Out of curiousity, I also found these differences:

Jazz - rear seats only 1 angle
Fit - rear seats 2 angles
[What are the 2 angles? My seats fold either down flat, or up to make the tall space in the rear]

Jazz -to shift the seat forward lever at bottom of seat
Fit - lever at shoulder to shift the seat forward
[My Jazz has both I think, at least on the driver side]

Jazz - no factory fitted insulator for bonnet & firewall
Fit - factory fitted insulator for bonnet & firewall
[I'm pretty sure there is insulation there. But if not, it would explain the engine noise at highway speeds]

Jazz - front seats cannot fold all the way down and flush wif the rear
Fit - can bring down the front seats (w/o headrest) and flush wif the rear
[Do they fold back? As far as I can tell I can't fold the front seats flat, either forward or back. Which is a bummer.]

Jazz - fuel lid is not locked, but fuel cap is locked.
Fit - fuel lid is locked by cable operated
[The lid is unlocked when the car is unlocked, but the cap doesn't seem to lock at all. But I haven't tested it]

Jazz - Boot cover & Boot light in Jazz
Fit - doesnt have
[Yep have both. Does the US fit really come without a cover or light??]
My comments in brackets. From here: https://www.mycarforum.com/forums/to...-fit-and-jazz/

Can anyone confirm/deny these? It doesnt' really matter, but I'm just curious

I think the US and Canada get bigger bumpers for the 15mph-no-damage crash regulations, and that's what adds to the overall length of the car.

Ah that'd make more sense then just making a longer car. Though they do for some models.

I have a japanese spec fit
Rear seat can be adjusted to 2 angles, when you pull the latch (to fold them forward) you can push them back and they will lock in a more inclined position.
Bonnet has some sort of padding, not sure if that's the insulation
Front seats do fold back all the way, but i wouldn't say flush, they kinda lie on top of the rear bench.
Yes, no boot cover or lights on mine ( i added an aftermarket light which is way brighter anyway)

Interesting about the differences. As a US Fit owner, here are my comments...

Length difference is all in the front and rear bumper covers.

Jazz - rear seats only 1 angle
Fit - rear seats 2 angles
[What are the 2 angles? My seats fold either down flat, or up to make the tall space in the rear] - Rear seat has standard latch or can latch in a slightly reclined position for more comfort.

Jazz -to shift the seat forward lever at bottom of seat
Fit - lever at shoulder to shift the seat forward
[My Jazz has both I think, at least on the driver side] - Lever on shoulder of driver and passenger seat to move seat forward/backward.

Jazz - no factory fitted insulator for bonnet & firewall
Fit - factory fitted insulator for bonnet & firewall
[I'm pretty sure there is insulation there. But if not, it would explain the engine noise at highway speeds] - Insulator in both locations, but still loud at any speed. LOL

Jazz - front seats cannot fold all the way down and flush wif the rear
Fit - can bring down the front seats (w/o headrest) and flush wif the rear
[Do they fold back? As far as I can tell I can't fold the front seats flat, either forward or back. Which is a bummer.] - Front seats can fold flat and match up to rear seat to make one giant bed. In US, they marketed them as "Magic" seats.

Jazz - fuel lid is not locked, but fuel cap is locked.
Fit - fuel lid is locked by cable operated
[The lid is unlocked when the car is unlocked, but the cap doesn't seem to lock at all. But I haven't tested it] - No lock on lid or cap.

Jazz - Boot cover & Boot light in Jazz
Fit - doesnt have
[Yep have both. Does the US fit really come without a cover or light??] - Light in rear standard. Cover was sold as an accessory item.

Thanks for putting up this list. I didn't know about the differences.

According to wikipedia "Honda uses the "Jazz" nameplate in Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa, Hong Kong, Macau, some ASEAN countries and India; and "Fit" in Japan, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan and the Americas."

What I want to say is that Fit is same car as Jazz, and the differences like listed in above are depending on the market area. It is necessary to specify which market area Jazz and Fit was discussed. Fit sold in US differs slightly from the Fit sold in Canada, and both differ remarkably from the Fit sold in Japan. Also Jazz for Europe differs from Jazz for Africa.
