No power at all - new battery

A few weeks ago my 2007 Fit would not start, no lights, power, etc. It started up immediately with a jump but the next morning it was dead again. The alternator was just replaced last year so I assumed battery (old one was 3 years old) and put that in last week (51R). This morning, the car is dead again. No power at all. Can't even use the remote to open it.

Anything I can check myself before bringing in to mechanic? The battery connections look clean and are tight.

Thanks.

It would be safe to say that you have a dead short somewhere but that is little help. An easy thing to check is voltage at the battery while the car is running. I think it's supposed to be at 13.5 or 14.5 or something like that. This shows that the alternator is charging.

Yeah, or if not a short, then maybe something not turning off / going to sleep properly and draining the battery. If you have a multimeter, you can pretty easily do some checks to see which if any circuit is draining your battery, like this:

When my alternator stopped working, I had the battery light on the dashboard constantly. Still, doesn't mean there couldn't be something wrog with it.

Thanks for the replies. Will break out the multimeter and give it a go. Much appreciated.

google parasitic drain and get you multimeter out. i had this problem with a new battery only now that the temps got cold. turns out and extra LED a had added to the dashboard, via the fusebox to represent the "alarm active" was enough to cause the drain overnight in 20 degree weather. figured it was an led and couldnt be drawing much power, but the way i had it jumped it was pulling enough to cause my issue. for reference my draw at the battery after i pulled the Led out, went from .48mA to about .25mA.
