Unhappy Is it possible to change side mirror back cover without taking the whole mirror off?

Is it possible to change the side mirror back cover without taking the whole mirror off?
Mine is cracked but the mirror is otherwise fine, it's easy enough to get the back cover loose but it appears the whole mirror may need to come off to get it off.
This is what it looks like currently:

I'd say no. Do not see how. Not to mention you are not going to find the shell, except a used one from wreck. However, if you don't mind painting it yourself, after market whole (no paint) power mirrors for the FIT are relatively inexpensive, about $32....... against $250 Honda part already painted.

Other than that it is just the work of removing the door panel to change them.

Thanks, I was hoping there was a way out but I can see the whole thing has to come off, sad that Honda doesn't sell just the cover seeing the whole thing is otherwise fine.
I saw how cheap they are on eBay, amazing how they can make a whole mirror incl mech for that price.

It is not that expensive for Honda (in Japan) either. .....but by the time it makes it through the supply chain, human greed takes over and they figure could mark it up outreageously,.....because it is 'legitimate OEM part"
