My first Honda. What maintenance items should I check first?
I recently purchased a 2007 Blaze Orange Metallic Fit Sport with the 5-speed manual. I am loving it and want it to last. I have never had a Honda before and am wondering what maintenance items I should check first. I have heard that valve adjustment is something that should be done. Do they get out of adjustment on these 1.5L engines frequently? What other issues do these have, if any. Basically what special attention do these Fits need to keep going and going? Thanks for any advice you can give me. Also, how do I get a FitFreak sticker like I have seen on forum members car pics?
Maintenance?? Like any other vehicle ..follow the Owner Manual schedule. You don't mention the mileage. If not sure something has been done by previous owner, perform it. The engine does not have hydraulic lifter on the valves, ..meaning they don't self adjust, .......you do...........thus inspection/adjustment is required as scheduled.
To get it going and going,.......... like any other vehicle:....... regular maintenance and be treated with respect w/out abuse..
......and if you are planning on working on it yourself, would help greatly getting a factory manual.

Congrats on getting a Fit and welcome to our little clam bake.
In answer to your question, this is what would be on my mind:
1) Inspect tires
2) Inspect brakes
3) Inspect suspension parts
4) Change the engine oil and filter
5) Drain and replace the MT oil
6) I would do a valve adjustment
7) I would replace the spark plugs
8) Replace the engine air filter
9) Replace the cabin air filter
10) Inspect the serpentine belt (I would replace it)
11) Replace coolant
12) Brake & Clutch Fluid: Flush and replace
Good luck. Blaze Orange was the first Fit I ever noticed. It was on the showroom floor of Honda of Hollywood. When I sat in it and worked the shifter through the gears, I knew I had to have one.
