2007 JDM GD1 Front Brake replacement
2007 JDM GD1 Front Brake replacement
Hi all,
I'm looking to replace the front brakes on my 2007 JDM GD1 Fit. I found out the hard way that the NA model has different brakes... I've currently got a set of new USDM pads and rotors in a corner and a set of unreliable brakes on my car.
The JDM model uses smaller rotors and pads when compared to the version that we got here in Canada, and I'm hoping to maybe swap my brakes to a USDM system. Can someone with a 2007-2008 USDM model measure the caliper mounting bracket and the space between the bolt holes on the steering knuckle? I can't confirm if the steering knuckle is the same... if it is, I plan to buy USDM calipers and make the swap. Otherwise I may have to buy JDM pads and rotors for something absurd or sell the car to the next poor soul.

I'm in the same boat, I had bought GD1 NA brake calipers as well in order to further troubleshoot the issue. The sadly were too big to allow rotor clearance. From what it sounds like some people have applied a 3mm spacer underneath the brake rotor in order to push the rotor outward from the caliper. In my case, I did not find it to help. I have two GD1 honda fits and just dropped my second one off for its out of province inspection (Alberta, Canada).
My first though was to find one of the smaller 9 inch rotors to run such as one from an early 90's del sol however they did not function well with my stock 15CL13VN caliper. The stock NA caliper and bracket bolted up just find however I had an issue with the fitment of the stock NA caliper and the del sol rotor with 3mm spacer on the back. 12 hours straight of swapping s**t back and forth between both GD1's and now I'm back at square one. I have asked my friend in Japan if he is able to source a part number for both the rotor and pads however I was hoping to come across one that is sourced here (cross platform) from another gen Honda model.
My question to you is this: Have you found a solution to the or did you order from Japan?
I ended up ordering from Japan.
I've found that Amayama is really good. I purchased front pads and rotors for about $400 once shipping and import fees were handled. The job was easy too, barring having to drill out a rotor set screw.
One thing I discovered later is that the 2006 Civic Hybrid shares the same L13A 1.3L iDSI engine as my GD1 fit. I was able to get some coils I needed from rockauto instead of Japan because of it... it may be worth looking to see if the front brake setup is the same just in case.
