Does the gasket matter?

Hey all, prepping to adjust the valves and I can't seem to get out of my own way. Would y'all recommend getting a genuine honda gasket or can I just pick up the fel-pro when I go to oreilly's for some ultra-grey?

I went with OEM when doing mine. Aftermarket gaskets may not have the best fit, which may have an effect on performance.

True, that's what I originally had thought too. I just know this most likely has never been done on this fit and I didn't want to wait for shipping. However, just grabbed a gasket at the washer gasket and the cover gasket from hondapartsnow for cheaper ! Cheers mate!

I've never had problems with Fel-Pro gaskets, but when OEM is available, that's what I go with.

I’ve used fel-pro in the past on previous cars also. Always seemed to do the job great. For some reason I’ve been in my head about Honda’s oem cult recently

OEM is the very best. Don't settle for anything else.

Do you happen to have a parts list of the gaskets that should be replaced when the valves are adjusted? I looked at rock auto and it wasn't crystal clear which gasket would be replaced with a valve adjustment.

@FionaFit thanks!

I got mine from Hondapartsnow. I like the exploded view they provide. Puts it into perspective for me. This is an exploded view from the service manual. I’ve got the gaskets/o-rings circled. Not pictured is the valve cover gasket. And don’t forget your rtv for the win!

Thanks - I think I also did the valve cover gasket last time I did mine. Not sure if that's separate or one of the ones you circled?
