Front Wheel Bearing Replacement

My 2008 Honda Fit seems to need its left front wheel bearing replaced. I am feeling a subtle vibration and growl sound whenever the steering wheel is turned to the right. With the car elevated there is some noise when that tire is spun but not much play yet. The shop told me it sounds like a dry bearing.

I considered doing it myself, but it is likely too complex for me since I have really no mechanical experience. I am hoping to find the parts for less than a couple shops have quoted me. I am looking at Rock Auto, partsavatar.ca and hondapartsonline.net. I am leaning to order from RockAuto since I think I should also be ordering an ABS sensor and the RockAuto ones are priced lower. These often break when removed, correct?

I am wondering about the quality of the RockAuto parts since I don't think they are OEM vs the online Honda parts. Also, I may decide to sell this car in a couple months, though that is not for certain.

I just took my 2007 Honda Fit Sport to a shop for a new serpentine belt replacement (120K miles) The guy said he faintly heard sounds from the front bearing and I need to listen for any more evidence....so, just in case, how hard of a job is it...what's a good rate for a shop to do the work?

Consider installing left and right complete axle assemblies. Wheel bearings are included. Assemblies are different between auto and manual transmission vehicles.

There is little labor required other than removal of the original axle(s) and installation of new axle(s). You also get new CV joints, boots, and grease packs. If your car is exposed to road salt, you avoid axle breakage at the harmonic balancer.

You should also check the Intermediate Shaft for wear.
