Occasional Hesitation "Off the Line", Poor MPG
My 2008 Honda Fit occasionally hesitates when accelerating away from a stop or very slow speed. Also, in the winter when cold the idle sometimes gets very low (it died once in the wintertime when going from R -> D). These issues don't happen often, but often enough to notice. In other news, my Fit also gets pretty poor gas mileage, in my opinion. The original stated MPG was 27/32, and I don't think I've seen anything over 24 (summer, winter, in town, mix) for a year or more. Do you think these symptoms are related and could point to a need for a plugs/wires refresh? I'm sure they are due for a replacement, but I've been hesitant to spend the money without some assertions that they will actually fix this issue. Thoughts?
I'd be more leaning towards plugs + an air/fuel issue. Generally ignition issues are straightforwards, misfire. Misfire... Misfire....
Air/fuel ratio is basically the mix of what determines gas mileage. Start with looking at plugs/wire resistance if it does run wires, then check LTFT, IAC, sensors, etc. Could be a multi factor issue. Good luck.
