It truly doesn't matter, it's just the inevitable "GD3 vs. GE8" going on.

Both are slow ugly cars, but after driving both I selected the 09 because it is more comfortable (you'll notice the quote in the article stated even a novice wouldn't choose the predecessor after driving both), and the power band is much better for real world driving. One of the most significant selling points for me was how easily the 09 got on the busy highway from 35, and how much engine effort the 08 took. (MT) It is a shame they compared sport vs sport since the wheel size changed. I would be interested in a test with the wheels swapped. Does not mater though since this car is slow anyway. I still get 40mpg in a decent driving car, and that is all I wanted for $14000. The Pedals are better, the view is better, the space is nicer, and it is a couple tenths slower in a quarter. I laugh my ass off when I see cars like these on a drag strip.

the funny thing about this review is that on the 'what needs work section' edmunds simply stated 'give us a minute'.

i guess they feel that, in the end, the fit is what it is and while the gd will always be looked upon as the better performer, the ge8 improves upon what was neccessary and makes the fit better for what its mission is. (which is not being a sports car, no matter how fun i or anyone else thinks it is to drive.)

still suprising though, because edmunds has ripped on other cars for not being as sporty for the predecessor, but not on the new fit?

I think it's what i hate most about the new fit... it seems like it's coming from a star trek or Alien movie.... beurk..!! It's a car, not a goddamn space ship!!

I've heard the '09 Fit is slightly heavier, and this is why it is a little bit slower. That and the wheels. I don't think most people will notice, and of course fast is not the reason you jump in to the Fit. But if '09s in Houston want to race... I'm there.

It all depends on the driver, weather, and altitude.
